Old School Anime Raw
« on: June 08, 2009, 02:06:02 am »
Alright, we all know that fansubbing is NOT easy. Still, there are some sick people out there who actually love doing it :D. But even if someone want to sub an anime, there will sometimes be something stopping him, especially for really old anime: raws. It is infernally hard to find any raws of old show, let alone good ones. So, here's what I suggest: We make a list, right here, of what raws we have for oldschool anime. They have to to complete, in Japanese, and at least decent quality. I mean, who knows, maybe some dude will stop by and go "Hey, this is prettt good, and they even have the raws. I'll do it!".

So, let me start off with this:

Tokimeki Tonight: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2729

I have DVD rips for this, all 34 episodes. Of course, since they were old DVDs...the quality is not so good, but more the decent.

Idol Tenshi Youkoso Youko: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3058

Come on people, if we can't sub it. we might as well provide the resources for someone else to do it.

Demons run when a good man goes to war. Night will fall and drown the sun, when a good man goes to war. Friendship dies and true love lies, night will fall and the dark will rise, when a good man goes to war. Demons run but count the cost, the battle's won, but the child is lost.

Cool idea, would contribute if I had some RAWs. I have Ginga Nagareboshi Gin on DVD, but I'm doing those myself. Might take a while to encode 21 eps and translate from Danish to English. But what the fuck, no one says I have to be finished by a month :D

I have raws for the series, movie, and OVA.  It would be quite a while until we took on that project though unless someone on the team gets really fired up about it, the to-do list is already so long.

A few dozen titles.  That doesn't include the long 50 & 100+ episode series either.

It really must be hard to locate them, I'm sure there must be a lot of enthusiasts, but most likely a lot of the collectors out there who do have old copies haven't linked up with the various communities on the internet who might put them to use. I sometimes wonder if the various companies went under or have no interest in producing old series anymore, like Ashita no Joe, that seemed really cool.

O.o Little Princess Sarah!, PollyAnna, Little Women!!...

Aside from collecting fansubs, I've come to collect whatever rarities I see floating through nyaa, TT, etc, not caring if they are raw...

But whoa, those are among things I thought were impossible to find, not to mention several others on there :D... Just I hope there will be rotating seeds as not all of them seem to be seeded :-\...

Edit; Aishite Naito, aka Rock'n Roll Kids there as well, saw that on German TV long ago, definitely going to get that too (if I can)...

I have raws for the 26 episode "Guyver: The Bio-boosted Armor" TV series (seems to be from a DVD rip as they are 1024x576).  If anyone is interested in doing a rough translation for 'em, I'll be happy to do all the other work ^^  It may take a while, but it will be good practice for me.

Edit: I also have raws for the 45 episode "Ghost Sweeper Mikami" series.  Quality is not great, but I'm unsure if this is due to the original source being low rez or if it's due to the encode... Either way, I've decided to try my hand at subbing the following series:

* Guyver: the Bio-Boosted Armor - Raws only, will be doing from scratch
* Ghost Sweeper Mikami - Raws only, will be doing from scratch
* Devilman (TV) - Redoing subs from the copy here on BakaBT as what we have is from the horrible Hong Kong subs

Anyone interested in helping out with any of these projects, give me a PM here or post at http://stillbreathingfansubs.wordpress.com/recruitment/.

I have this:

Directly off Japanese TV: Devichil 1, 3-12, 14, and the first half of the Dr. Slump/Dragonball crossover  (the modern one)
Original Japanese tape: Srungle Sexy & Superstar

If anyone needs these I'd be glad to donate them.

Sounds great and all, but how would you be able to help? Are you a translator?

Yes, actually. Though admittedly I don't have that much confidence in my abilities, so maybe I'll try helping out in the future when my skills improve some. I also plan to learn timing, so I could be a timer someday as well .

Tokimeki Tonight: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2729
Rereading this thread, the name of this series caught my eye. Since initially replying in 2010, there has been activity with this series:

http://animesuki.com/series.php/1772.html

Beginning January 20 2011, and going until August 6, 2012,  Saitei subs has done consistent work on the series and finished 19 of the 34 episodes. Off-hand I'm not sure where they got their raws (I might find out when I watch more of it and pay more attention to the credits) but I think it would be wonderful if Hiro was the cause of this series seeing the light of day.

I think it has a wonderful comedic plot and the ending sequence song is quite catchy. The metamorphoses are varied and I think it puts the heroine in some awkward situations.
