Poker! Texas hold em no limit! :)

Poker is popular everywhere, easy rules. I'd just love to participate in 1. Although I have no idea on where and how we could make something with easy access. :/

Signature of the Week!
Theme is chosen by the winner of the previous SOTW contest
Entries are open for the whole week and voting takes place on the last day, (ends at midnight, maybe?)

Voting format:

Name1 - 0
Name2 - 0
Name3 - 0
Name4 - 1

(i.e. bold the name/number of votes for the person you vote for)

Can worry about the heightxwidth and other technical requirements later :3

I propose... Gomoku!

Rules:
-This game is often played on a 15x15 grid, but board sizes can be bigger.
-To win, get an unbroken row of exactly 5 of your pieces. 6 or more are called overlines and do not count.
-All rules apply to both players. Loser goes first next game.
-Double threes rule - any move that creates two open unbroken rows of threes (or a spaced unblocked 3) is banned, since the move guarantees a win. If you don't completely understand, click here to see my crappy illustration about this rule.

Last, but not least, I'm betting lots of (more) people are familiar with this game than Mahjong or Go or whatever... imho, it's more likely the community will participate than for something more complicated that they have to study the rules for (coughMahjongcough). Gomoku is not much more than tic-tac-toe increased to 5 in a row.
Gomoku Narabe (or just Gomoku)

I love that game so much, I learned it from my grandfather when I was 5 xD
Will make for a fun tourny ;o

Booya! (Card Game):
2 or a max of 7 people can play.

You win the game when you remove all of the cards from your deck.
You must match by the same number or color otherwise you will gain one card.

Special Cards:

Draw-2: Forces opponent to gain 2 cards

Rando: If you guess the color right your opponents deck will gain FOUR CARDS! otherwise nothing happens.

Skip: Forces opponent to lose his turn.

Reverse: It reverses the flow of the turn, can be a bitch if you dont have the right cards.

==========

Pool:
2 Player Game.

Who wants a game of pool?

==========

Foreplay:
2 Player Game.

Vertical Gravity Tic Tac Toe! Get a row of 4 to win.

==========

Hover Kart Battle!:
2 or a max of 7 people can play.

Like Bumper Cars you hover around a race ring destroying your opponents until only one is left standing.

==========

Checkers:
2 Player Game.

Ye ol'game of Checkeroo.

==========

DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION Hit Machine:
7 Player Game.

Use the ASD JKL Keys to capture the notes as they stream down the screen.

Turn off Video in the options above if it gets too laggy.

My impression of this game:
Easy => Medium
Medium => Nightmare Mode
Hard => AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA

==========

YAHOO TOWERS Blockles:
2 or a max of 7 people can play.

Destroy your blocks and stack your opponents blocks as fast as you can.

==========

Ballracer:
2 or a max of 7 people can play.

Race your Hamster to the finish line in the insanity.

My impression of this game:
Insanity!!!

Suggesting an amv thing.

It could be a one-time thing where we all create one amv after a certain theme chosen by the staff. Something like "sadness" or "power". It would be wise to choose something a lot of people could relate to/want to make.

It could also be a tournament where we're supposed to make a new one after we've moved on. Although time will be the keyword here, people will need time to make a new AMV, and they might begin to become tired/bored of it.

I love playing poker. In fact, I'm playing it right now. No Limit Texas Hold'em would be the best choice of course, I  wouldn't mind playing Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo but I doubt a lot of people know how to play it.

Go: http://www.gokgs.com/
Shogi: http://www.playok.com/en/shogi/
Chess: http://www.chess.com

Shogi is fun, and i say that even though i suck badly at it.    ;D
Watching "Shion no ou" last year reminded me of the game and this time i found a decent abandonware game to try it out with:
http://www.myabandonware.com/game/shogi-master-196
Its very old and squeaky dos-game but it runs perfectly without any emulation need on anything up to at least Win XP.
So try the game out, i´ve beaten the AI at level 3 without handicap at best but its horribly good most of the time.
And dont forget to take a look at the anime, one of the better ones i think.

Poker! Texas hold em no limit! :)

Texas Hold em is fun, I used to play it daily for years. Till I found Riichi rules Mahjong. It's my new crack. :)

You mention omgpop and fail to mention draw my thing? :( That pictionary game is fantastic if you get a good group of people playing.

BBT Anime of the Year Awards.

we could start an event where people would be voting for all Major and Sub categories for each anime of this year, setting all the rules and everything will take some time, so should be ready by November if this gets a stamp for a go.

Each Anime would be awarded for several categories like in MTV and Hollywood Oscar awards settings,
examples:
[Anime names Here]
Best main character
Best secondary character
Best Music
Best Costumes
Best "Kick In The Balls" scene (those happen too, and admit it, they contribute to the show)
Best Plot (if any)
Best Fan Service
Best Character Personality (dunno if this could get in somewhere or should just stay in best main/secondary character)
Best [you name it]

of curse we would have to vote on all Anime released this year and ended this year, anime that started last year and ended this year do not count, unless it will be accepted by the jury.

I think it could be quite interesting doing this :)

so ?

BBT is a well respected site, if we start doing something like that even if just for fun, it could only improve BBT reputation, but if you aren't interested in anything fun you can just stick to leeching anime, cuz the events suggested here are supposed to be fun, you know ?

If you look up a bit, you'll see that I've already suggested my most anime-site-appropriate favorite game.
I suppose you're right. Perhaps I'm reluctant to do your event because I want to do the one I suggested.  ;)
