I thought of something that I'd like to suggest to you guys. Have you guys ever seen Hikaru No Go? Let's try playing this game( Go ) in the next competition. :)

Sorched 3d, but unlike other FPS you cant move.

Sorry, but it's 2 reasons:

1) Although, it looks like Worms 3D, but it has crappy graphic details.
2) The control is complicated and nobody would understand much of its use there.

So it's quite declined. :/

in these forums and this site, everyone wants to try something Japanese or Chinese or Korean traditional game for the competition... Or some of the European games, such as Chess and Backgammon. Above of all, they must be digitalized, so that everyone can play them FREELY and with fun, like we had that fun in Mahjong...

I beg to differ, forgive the slightly rude tone, but this is just...

Sorched 3d, but unlike other FPS you cant move.

Sorry, but it's 2 reasons:

1) Although, it looks like Worms 3D, but it has crappy graphic details.
> Is graphics that important?

2) The control is complicated and nobody would understand much of its use there.
> Implying people who don't play boardgames have no rules to learn.

So it's quite declined. :/ > (¬_¬) what?

in these forums and this site, everyone wants to try something Japanese or Chinese or Korean traditional game for the competition... Or some of the European games, such as Chess and Backgammon.
> NOT everyone is a fan of boardgames.

Above of all, they must be digitalized, so that everyone can play them FREELY and with fun, like we had that fun in Mahjong...
> turn based open source games are neither digitalized, free, nor fun?

PC games competition:

Minecraft
Star Wars Battlefront
Fiesta
Warhammer 40k
Emperor: Battle for Dune
Enemy Nations (anyone heard of it - lol, it's a little like anno 2070, but it's really old)
Magic and Mayhem (again I guess nobody's heard of this game)

Other:

Math competition - like in this thread http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=31021.0 - but as a competition
Playing/singing japanese music competition - the vids can be put on youtube.
Programming competition - like for making a mini game.
AMV competition (I guess there are many such, but I'm not sure if there's on BakaBT)
Drawing competition.
Writing competition.
Cosplay competition.
etc. (there are plenty of things that could be included)

^ There are some good ones there
I think the top ones for me would be:
1. Drawing/fan art
2. Another karaoke tourny
3. Cosplay (Would probably not participate, but would be fun to see)

We hold competitions all the time. The most popular forum based competition is RPS, Rock Paper Scissors
Its pretty easy, 32 contestants join and are paired off in groups of two, then proceed to send PM's to a mod, the mod keeps a track of these using a post in the competition thread. Competitors know they aren't lying because both votes are logged. Once both have been sent they are logged (and any foul play is easily found out)
This keeps going in a pyramid like structure until only one person remains. We did however have a lot of problems with inactive members.
For any further details feel free to PM me at BakaBT.me as I rarely use these forums

So what do you think? not a bad idea? We used to hand out prizes too, considering this is a torrent site, maybe you could have prizes like one week freeleech for the winner, or maybe a boost to their ratio. I don't know, I'm just making suggestions.

-snap-

think this way: MAKE a thread/game with that idea, hold just 1 round of the game, and think why it is a bad idea.

As criver said "writing competition", a while ago I had wanted a fanfic competition. I think it would be a fairly cool idea, though it would need quite a bit of time before judging (as writing something GOOD takes a hell of a lot of planning / drafting / rewriting).

Since this is an anime tracker, the material allowed could be narrowed down to a fanfic of an anime/manga/light novel.

Perhaps there should be some kind of length requirement (whether it be min or max) to even the playing field. Then several categories such as "creativity", "plot", "readability", etc could be used for scoring points and then tallied at the end.

Anime Music Video! 8) 8)

I was thinking why not have an amv competition? I thought it was fitting since this is a anime website after all, I saw some on YouTube and it inspired me to try making some. There really fun especially if there is  a particular anime series you love!! and there’s a lot of free software out there to use :)

An example of an amv and the one that mainly inspired me to start making some (Attempting to make some)

We are holding one of those at the moment, Here's a link to one of our youtube pages for the comp (because a link to our site is against the wiki rules)

BBT Anime of the Year Awards.

we could start an event where people would be voting for all Major and Sub categories for each anime of this year, setting all the rules and everything will take some time, so should be ready by November if this gets a stamp for a go.

Each Anime would be awarded for several categories like in MTV and Hollywood Oscar awards settings,
examples:
[Anime names Here]
Best main character
Best secondary character
Best Music
Best Costumes
Best "Kick In The Balls" scene (those happen too, and admit it, they contribute to the show)
Best Plot (if any)
Best Fan Service
Best Character Personality (dunno if this could get in somewhere or should just stay in best main/secondary character)
Best [you name it]

of curse we would have to vote on all Anime released this year and ended this year, anime that started last year and ended this year do not count, unless it will be accepted by the jury.

I think it could be quite interesting doing this :)

I second this

yeah, i suppose, but you could separate the awards into a spanned out week or something? but i guess it would still be quite alot of planning and stuff. well then

Anime Jeopardy!!!

Choose anime as categories, and use easter eggs or questions a true fan would only know.

First to reply correctly gets some sort of prize.

I was actually thinking of that, but think of the problems, most people now prefer DevPro rather than DN cos it's automated. There are also timezone differences all over the world so organisation would be difficult, and also, there are so many rulings now (even I don't know them all :x) and there are rarely any mods on DN most of the time... so there will be loads of disputes.

It's a plausible idea though, so if someone can think of a way for it to work feel free to comment ^^;

Edit: Also, what format do we play, do we play the current meta? Or do we go into Traditional and play old-school Yugioh?
