[ EDIT: change topic title from "religions" to "religious absurdities" in an effort to steer this in a less vicious direction.  We'll see how that works out ...  ;) ]

Religion is great when its practiced by people who arent insane.

I personally dont believe in any type of higher power but I dont fault anyone who does... as long as they dont a) try to convert others b) arent radicals
Its more about good morals then wizards and after-lifes.
I am a baptized Christian, but do not believe.

Like I said, can of worms.  I picked this forum:

> The Lounge > Just for Laughs >

(instead of Politics) in Hope and Faith that we could maybe focus on funny shit instead of political statements.  Just sayin' ...

Yes, I see what you're saying, but it's kind of hard to look at the funny things of religion (especially with the Islamic faith) without it being political. In any case, my apologies. Now on to the funny stuff.

Also, this thread reminds me of the bumper sticker on my Jetta-

These are all hilarious! Have you guys ever watched the movie "Religilous"? Bill Mahr is the host of the documentary, and he attacks all the mainstream religions, and he poses great points.

I laughed at that part too! I thought the entire documentary was very well done. There were parts of the movie that really made me think, and the people he interviewed couldn't really give a clear answer to him. I suggest watching it. As for religion, I think that people should believe what they want to believe and not believe in something because someone is forcibly shoving it down your throat. This world has many religions, who's to say that one religion is the one and only way? Christians say God gave man freewill, yet God has certain ways on how man should worship, and that they can only worship God. That doesn't make sense to me.

I don't want to be (and will not be) a thread Nazi.  My previous comment was purely an opinion that I'd like to visit here for laughs.  I am surrounded every day by an extreme right-wing cesspit of rancid hate speech.  I need a refuge from it, somewhere, for my sanity.

As far as bakaBT rules go, there is a specific ban on religious topics for IRC discussion, so it seems the forum is open to it.  To be on the safe side & prevent the thread from getting locked down ... it just seems a plan to keep it satirical, humorous and (relatively) good-natured.  It'd be cool to see this topic go epic with a nice archive of fun & funny items.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for participating.   Some of these are absolutely hysterical.   ;D 8)

[ EDIT: Found a picture of a T-shirt I once had.  Wore it until it turned to rags, then had it thumb-tacked to the back of my bedroom door for another decade.  This is one of the original designs, gotta be over 30 years old now:

LOL, I've actually done that. Move A bible into the Fantasy Section. Then I placed bibles in the Christian Fiction section. I got reprimanded by some lady telling me that I shouldn't mock god, so I called her out on it. Asked her God to do something to me, and nothing happened...but then again I've got this rash that won't go away. LOL JK

Based on this, I have to conclude that you are Catholic.  ("If shit happens I deserve it.")
If I ever meet God in person, I'm going to ask Him why he created so many stupid people, and then punch Him in the nose before he answers.
