This is meant to be a friendly warning and reminder to new users: when tempted to request a new client, please be polite and respectful to BakaBT staff/admin, and do your research beforehand!  And if you are thinking about requesting the whitelisting of uTorrent 3.3.2+:
Don't.  Just don't.
Let me direct you to some links which hopefully will clear up why client requests are the way they are:

Main links:  http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=19469.0 and http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=19305.msg4947229#msg4947229 <-- these two threads are where the problem largely started.  The 1st one is 76 pages long or so (depending on your posts-per-page setting), but take note of the very 1st post, where it says,
Quote
Duki3003 edit: All new uTorrent 3.x stable releases will be delayed for a few weeks (usually 2) until the client proves stable, please avoid requesting it over and over again - it will not get it whitelisted faster!
Users who fail to follow this will receive up to 30 day warnings on their accounts
This edit was NOT present for the entire life of the thread, but if you read enough posts, you'll see exactly why it was placed there.  Then read the second link, especially the last page (where it jumps to when clicking).

Basically, the staff/admin here on BakaBT are sick of hearing about/dealing with the client and arguments over it.  Arguing with them over this is not a particularly good idea; uTorrent's currently whitelisted versions won't be helped by more drama over newer versions  :-\ .

Some examples of what to do, if you still wish to request/discuss a specific client (that isn't uTorrent!):
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41242.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41310.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41195.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41089.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=40993.0
And so on.  Now, not all of the above requests were successful, but they also did NOT garner their posters 30-day warnings (or even rude responses)!  Common features are at least basic research/justification for whitelisting the new candidate, plus a reasonably polite request.  You don't have to kiss ass, mind you, just please don't be rude; it can only end badly, I promise.

Here's some examples of how NOT to request/discuss a client:
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41361.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41073.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=41021.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=40919.0
http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=40478.20 <-- Some of the responses, not the post by OP, were the problem here.
And so on.  I think the differences are pretty damn stark.

You can also find some more useful information and discussion at http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=40400.msg4993502#msg4993502.

Remember, folks, that while the people who maintain and run BakaBT for all of our benefit (for free!) generally have only the best intentions and wishes towards the community, it is not a democracy!  That said, if you don't blow off the site rules or make it embarrassingly clear you've never read the Wiki, you'll only have good times here.

@ brunoais: Done.

@ tyrionlannister & Clannad_92:  As brunoais says, I wish - lol.  But some folks HAVE insisted that they've read the stickies and it's not like the title is unclear, so if nothing else, it removes any excuse for not knowing what's up and/or becoming argumentative over the subject.  It's true that there wasn't any convenient summary before, so maybe it'll actually help.  One can dream...

It IS, however, the 1st post (that isn't on a warez forum; heh) that I've managed to get stickified, so weyhey and woo!

pffft...yeah right...before this thread turns into "request client to be whitelist / client discussion...

thats why there must be a banner / perma-announcement section informing that any client newer than 3.3.1 is not whielisted and request for it is closed until further notice...

sorry if a little bit off-topic...

I don't see how that's off-topic at all, but I also can't do anything about that, since I'm only a user, not staff 8) .  I see this as only a stopgap until either something more definite/effective is put in place, or until uTorrent's stink wears off (not overly optimistic there - lol), whichever comes 1st.

If nothing else, uTorrent aside, hopefully this can serve as a guide for how to post ANY client request/discussion.  There just isn't much (besides *cough* "common" sense) in the FAQ/Wiki that specifically lays out what to do, when doing so.

Honestly, I see this topic as somewhat of a "user chastisement self-selection" feature, so to speak.  If you can't/won't read at least a relatively-plainly worded sticky, the FAQ, and/or the Wiki, well...  Maybe a warning is what you need, after all  ::).

Done, although it took me a moment to figure out where to put it, as it didn't really fit my examples.  Not that it was all that difficult; I just woke up, and I have brain vapor-lock :P...

I'm running Official BitTorrent 7.9.1 build 30739, any ideas on when this will be white listed?

I'm not shocked.  But then they have no excuse to whine when they get their warning(s), now do they?

It's hard to argue that there was NOT a serious possibility of confusion, as it stood before, wouldn't you agree?

so to clarify... why in the world has the whitelist thread been locked?? Bittorent was updated a few days ago (i think) and now it won't let me DL.. saying that it isn't allowed.... soo.....

"BitTorrent" (the client) and "µtorrent" are basically the same because BitTorrent bought µtorrent years ago and is just distributing a relabeled version of µtorrent. That means BitTorrent won't be whitelisted anytime soon either. It's listed as "Official" in the whitelist, so you should be able to use up to version 7.8.

Due to the number of idiots who'd forgotten to turn autoupdate off, and then started to whine 'Whitelist the new version of the client NAO!!!'.

Hows uTorrent 3.4.1 looking at this stage? I've encountered a situation where 3.2.3 failed to download a particular torrent which had a very large swarm which 3.4.x downloaded just fine.
Hopefully it's getting half decent now? Some word on it would be most helpful in determining what route I decide to take. Thanks.

^ i do think its best to just wait for the notice from mods/admins regarding this "when will ___ be added in whitelist?"
nagging about it is useless, since this is a semi-private tracker; you want to use latest version of a client, just dont use BBT account; be public

Whitelist is superimposed, private or publicly.
