[Konosuba] Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!
« on: February 12, 2016, 12:38:41 pm »
Guess we don't have a placeholder for this show's discussion, guess we should start here.

Only started episode 1, and definitely enjoying.
Best humour I've seen so far in this season, even beating Nurse Witch Komugi R.

Boobstring has many problems, and this show pretty much does it right.

I'm enjoying it, as someone who read the LNs for as long as they were translated, it was a fun counter-balance to all those "Japanese Otaku gets transported into fantasy world to become Mary Sue hero"-stories.

Not a huge fan of the jiggly character designs. While the LNs are fanservice-y at times, it's not something it really relies on. I suppose it'll make more money in merchandising that way, so whatever.

i dont care though, but if my father works on night shift's, then its an-Ok, since my mom knows that i will laugh at anything without questioning me the next day

on topic, the male seiyuu voice kinda mix of ishida akira and matsuoka yoshitsugu (and some other's that i barely remember)

The plot and pacing of this show are atrocious, but it has some of the best voice acting I have seen in God knows how many seasons. This is definitely a "for the characters" show for me.

The plot and pacing of this show are atrocious,

It's a comedy. The plot simply there for the sake of humour, it's also paced for the sake of humour. Nothing seriously dramatic really happens, and if it seems like it is it's inevitably just set up for a joke.

As if the hoard of cabbages with apparently lettuce mixed in wasn't a clear indication.

Just because it is a comedy doesn't mean it has a free pass when it comes to pacing. You make it sound like I was implying that all plots, regardless of genre, should have the same pacing. To me, you are implying that comedy doesn't need pacing or plot. It does, and I'll say it again - the pacing and plot of the show, even within the context of comedy, sucks.

Regarding the plot, this show works on topical comedy and character comedy. Character comedy only works for so long. Characters only have a certain set of characteristics, and poking at the same things over and over again becomes boring fast. "Hey, the knight is a masochist, hahaha!" "Megumin has a funny name and can only cast magic once a day, hohoho!". These were good the first time. You can't just fill 12 episodes with the same joke. That means you need some topical comedy, and topical comedy by definition requires events to continue moving or else you fall into the same trap of repeating the same jokes over and over again. If the pacing is bad you can still have decent topical comedy, but if the pacing is good you can make jokes that build off of existing jokes and feel natural. This show lacks that good pacing and is putting too much of its comedy on the characters. This bad pacing is a direct result of a mediocre plot. Comedy can get away with a mediocre plot, but topical comedy can't. It is extremely important to note that the content and pacing we've seen would work extremely well for "extended" print. It is atrocious for "burst" video.

So, I'll say it a third time. The plot and pacing of this show fucking sucks, but what do I know? I'm some random dude on the internet.

A very fresh VA cast, hence a very refreshing performance.

We still don't have the obligatory beach, or fan service overload, episode and that usually comes at 6 or 7 once all the characters in the opening cinematic have been introduced.
So they haven't introduced the alchemist of sorts and twintails yet, expect the plot to move either when those make an appearance or after.

Yes, pacing is horrible, but I've come to accept that we're not gonna get good pacing unless it's a show centered on action.

i think that the male MC will be the "Demon King" in the hilarious way (based on the rumor spread about his perverseness and his lucky-sukebe situation)

Cause it was stupid. There really wasn't anything hilarious, even if it was meant to be.

There is a difference between something being hilarious and stupid. This was stupid, not hilarious. And seriously what kind of 'God' is she when she doesn't even have respect of a frog.
