Converting A Briefcase Into Laptop Safe?
« on: November 21, 2016, 05:50:18 pm »
So...I have a solid briefcase and I want to use it for my laptop.

Any thoughts on what kind of foam/material to line it with?

I'm going to install straps, like you see in luggage or some external HDD cases, but I want some kind of foam/material to protect the laptop (plus, other stuff) from shocks.

Get the foam innards pelican cases use.

Shape it as needed.

My thoughts exactly. Laptops, especially the battery, overheat very easily.

Well if you just want to use the case as storage and transport then you can just get a foam pad and carve out the size you need for your laptop.  If you want to make it a portable usable case, then you might want to install a collapsible lift so that while it's in use, it sits on a small metal shelf elevated above the foam pocket so that the fans can run and your ports/ drives are accessible.

If your superpower requires you to get naked, its not a power its a problem.
