Unable to download torrents because of tracker error

Hey, everyone. I'm getting an error when I try to download torrents in Vuze: Error (Network is unreachable: connect). I've been having this problem for around 3 months.
This issue only seems to be occurring on my desktop PC, if I try to download via my phone it works.

I'm running Windows 10.
My antivirus is Avast Free Antivirus.
I'm using Vuze V5.7.4.0/4 az3
My ISP is Comcast/Xfinity.
My VPN is IP Vanish.

I can download from other torrent sites, so the antivirus isn't stopping it, and my VPN is also on my phone so I don't believe it to be the issue, either. Any ideas?

VPN is known to cause issues with the communication between the client and the tracker. Try disabling it for a while.

While I'm at it, run the following commands on command prompt and post the results here.

Disabling the VPN didn't change anything, which I is just as I expected. I stated in my post that I can download BakaBT torrents on my phone with the VPN active, and I've had the VPN for nearly a year, but this problem is only a few months old. Also, I left the VPN disabled while doing the CP tests.

As to the CP results:

There's our problem. Something is blocking tracker.bakabt.me from the 12th hop.

Where do you download from your phone? From your home connection where your desktop downloads?

Where do you download from your phone? From your home connection where your desktop downloads?

I use my Samsung Galaxy S5 and download over my cellular network since T-Mobile gives me unlimited data, although it's about 1/3 the speed of my home broadband.



Avast has been known to cause problems in the past, it or peerguardian are often cause of the problem.

I've been using Avast for as long as I've been a member of this site, so I don't think that's the issue.

You shouldn't dismiss it just because you've been using it for a while, something may have changed in the meanwhile that is now causing you issues.
What I'm saying that in past experiences it has been known to cause issues, why, I couldn't tell you...

To eliminate that it's not the cause, you should temporarily uninstall it, reboot and check if the issue persists. If not you can always reinstall it again clean.

Well, uninstalling Avast Free Antivirus didn't change anything. Any other ideas?

That's not necessarily true. It just means the routers on that route don't answer the ICMP echo requests (including tracker.bakabt.me itself). From what I can see that's normal. I can use the tracker and my ping and tracert logs look similar.

Yes, but your tracert and ping logs do not mean you can't reach the tracker, only that the tracker and some routers on the way don't answer to ping requests. But answering to ping requests is not required for BitTorrent to work so that's not a problem on its own.

About the tracker:
What are the tracker URLs shown in Vuze? The anonymous/public tracker DNS names change every month, currently march.bakabt.me. Old tracker DNS names stop working at the end of a month. Only the tracker host name when logged in stays constant (tracker.bakabt.me). So if you downloaded the torrents while not logged in it is normal they stop responding. Check that.

I'll have to disable the Cell network on my phone to test just the wifi. I remember that it's difficult to use just the wifi because I have to take out the SIM card, and I don't think that I can hotspot on my phone so I don't know that I can actually use T-Mobile to download with my desktop, but I'll give both a try tomorrow.

If the tracker URL starts with "march.bakabt.me" then you were not logged in when you downloaded the torrent file from the website. Or you re-downloaded it and Vuze updated the tracker URL accordingly which in turn made the torrent work again.
