Just a quick update.

Using Deluge 0.5.8 now. Comes with a built-in anonymizing browser(ad supported, but still handy to have)

I voted for azureus 2.5 although I'm using 3 with classic interface.

I tried using uTorrent after azureus had reset its settings  :'(, but i dont like not being able to see the seeding and leeching torrents on separate parts of the screen at the same time.
I switched back to azureus after two weeks and I'm pretty satisfied with it.
I can't deny it feels much slower, but after you lower the Gui update time, the cpu usage also drops a bit. It  stays around 3%. Even with a lot of seeding torrents and a week of uptime I still don't notice any performance hits.
Plus I'm a big fan of all the configuration settings  :).

utorrent is probably the best out there currently.

For some people who are behind a few years on computer power (2.8ghz HThreading) i can't do too much out with Azureus on.  I like utorrent because it doesnt' eat at my CPU power.  I first got into torrenting on Azureus then decided hey ill try utorrent.  Speeds were almost identical for me.  And it didnt slow everything else down so

utorrent has my vote

If you use BitComet or BitLord, I will ban you. I am serious.

EDIT: this is like the 3294870324987th thread on this topic I've seen in my time here. I'm stickying this in the hope that this will be the last.

Why would you ban somebody that is using one of those Bittorrent clients?

:(
I can see there being major problems with that, seeing that Bitlord is base on the .56 release of Bitcomet.

Once my current download finishes in Bitlord (only one running from this site), when it is finshed I will remove that from the Bitlord uploader and switch to a different client for downloading/uploading torrents that I find on this site. Also I will limit my upload (I got it down to 1kB/s to 0kB/s) and not start any downloads more too pervent any more possible leakage onto other networks.

My usage of that client may also be the reason for my U/D ratio not being updated.

Actually this arcticle is quite old (2005) and BitComet 0.60 is not nearly last version, though problem with  private trackers might be still less or more actual in some form.
But imho that's not an issue here, as Boxtorrent is not private tracker. What I understand one of main reasons is because BitComet reports itself like seeder when task is finished, not when all files are downloaded and you can become real seeder. That's awful with partial downloads, where uploader or other seeders could get wrong impression about real number of seeders.
There might be other reasons as well, but please note that at least some bugs were fixed until current version 0.98 and one of main reasons for psychiclord (and many others) is  a personal antipathy imho ^-^

I use libTorrent + rTorrent. Simple, ressource friendly and runs well in a screen session!

Most likely uTorrent is the winner, and I guess the most used on here aswell :D

µTorrent is my choice. Before that I used BitComet -> Azureus, when I finally found µTorrent, I guess it was version 1.2 at the time. Just perfect for my needs.

I used azureus, then used utorrent in the 1.6~~~ days. THen I went back to Azureus. utorrent was pretty good, but ever since it was bought out, and the news of the "monitoring" of what was dled via utorrent... I just stopped using it.

The older ver would refuse to download stuff for some odd reason... so I uninstalled it afterwards.

Azureus uses a bit of power... I concur... but it's the bandwidth that I usually care about, so it doesn't really affect me. I turn it of when I game etc.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

I used bitcomet a long time ago, but when I started to download files on private trackers I changed my client to uTorrent

I just started using Deluge today, and it's great! I was getting max speeds of up to a 1200KB/s which is like the most I've ever had. ;D
