I just received a copy of Hotel Mario for the CD-i from a retro gaming company that is going out of bussnies. Its still in its original plastic wrapping, a real collectible.
For those of you who dont know the CD-i was Philips failed attempt at getting in to the video game market. It was originally like the Playstation supposed to be a CD add-on for the SNES. When Nintendo ditched Philips the CD-i was released as its own stand alone system and somehow Philips got their hands on the Mario license and this game was released.
Im a huge Mario fan so Im really glad to have this game in my collection.

My friend had a CD-i, he also had a guided gun for it.

I have a CD-i, it's probably my least favorite console of the past 25 years

I have heard of how terrible the CDi was but I have never played a game on one. I have never heard of that game either, but I'm not that surprised.
Might you happen to have the Legend of Zelda games that came out for the CDi? :P

Tetris, Link: The Faces of Evil, Zelda's Adventure, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, Zombie Dinos From Planet Zeltoid, Myst, Hotel Mario, Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II, Drug Wars, and Pac-Panic to name a few

Are any of them playable, and if they are, are they any good?

it's sort of a puzzle game, you gotta shut all the doors on five floors of the motel
better watched (http://youtube.com/watch?v=hezP8dBb9J4) than explained vs Bowser (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xhBucu-mzLc)

Oh dear lord. When did Mario get a Brooklyn accent? Wasn't he Italian?
Still not as bad as Zelda for the CD-i:

LOL
It tells you to read the instructions in the first cutscene. :D

MAH BOI!
Those are some pretty bad games...

Try watching some of the "no dinner" videos (based on the scenes in Zelda CD-i)) on there.
Personally, I found them to be quite hilarious.

You must not have tried the Virtual Boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Virtual_Boy). I heard the N-Gage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage) was pure evil as well, but I never tried it.

CD-i! My dad got my brother and I one of these back in '96 after our genesis crapped out. After a few hours with one of the golf games, I stopped playing until about 2002. I always look back and thank the CD-i for saving me from an adolescence filled with gaming.
Had he picked up a Playstation, I'd probably still be in a parent's basement, closing in on 300 pounds, grinding away.

Hotel Mario, otherwise known as "Mario! Shut the damn door, we're not trying to cool the outside!" I mean sure, we all experienced that as kids, but some experiences do NOT require being made into a video game. They should make a game called Mario, Get Out of the Bathroom!
