Post by: Voffi on December 13, 2008, 11:21:47 AM
Hello there people!

So i recently got myself a new router and my download speed got alot better (around 2mb/s), but my uppload speed is around 250 kb/s (around 1,5 Mb/s before).
it messes up my ratio, anyone know how i can improve my uppload?

If you think the router is the culprit, do some research on "Port Forwarding".

Is your old router still around? Try using it and see if it gives you your previous result.

Are you sure it's not just a bandwidth issue? If you lower your dl speeds, see if your upload increases. I have yet to hear many people talk about 2MB/s up AND down at the same time.

How are you connected to this router, via hard link or wireless?

Make sure you've setup port forwarding correctly, or if that sounds like too much of a pain then enable UPnP which will setup the port mappings as needed and delete them when the client closes. Just make sure UPnP is enabled in your client.

A quick test to see if your port is forwarded correctly is to use the uTorrent port checker: hxxp://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=your-torrent-client-port-number
(note: that address is caught by many port filters so you may need to turn them off temporarily or at least allow this one)

Our College has a connection from Time Warner Cable that is 2Mb up and down thats used just for the student labs (so they are separate from the main college network). So maybe voffi has a similar connection?
