I offered an OST torrent earlier today (FMA OSTs in FLAC) but was surprised to find out that 3 of those albums are not allowed (OST 1-3 are licensed by Funimation). I'm surprised because of the following:
1. All DNU (http://wiki.boxtorrents.com/index.php/Blacklist) lists are for manga and anime only. No such thing exists for other forms of media (e.g. artbooks, music videos, soundtracks, etc).
2. No newsposts regarding to the banning of the licensed OSTs have been made.
3. A topic (http://forums.boxtorrents.com/index.php?topic=16658.0) was raised related to this issue was posted about three months ago and the official response was that it was for anime only.
Now here are my questions:
1. Should there be a DNU list for other types of media (OST, etc.)?
2. If there should be one, how do we know which OSTs are licensed? Unlike manga or anime where we can check its current licensing status by simply checking a site like ANN, it's not easy to check licensing of OSTs.
Thank you for taking time to read this.

DNU list is based purely around the fact that cease and desist letters are received for content on the site.
I dont think you will see one until they receive a C&D notice about the OSTs

I don't know if they did receive any but MTR commented on my offer that the OSTs were not allowed due to Funimation licensing. I did a quick search on the MP3 version of the OSTs and found out that the torrent (http://www.boxtorrents.com/torrent/129556/Full_Metal_Alchemist_OST_collection.html) was recently swapped removing those OSTs.

The OSTs were offered a while ago and I think they were ripped off the CDs that came with the tin cases of the series (there were 3 such cases (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fullmetal+alchemist+starter+set&x=0&y=0)). I mentioned it during the offer and made scans of the booklets from all 3 CDs and the offer was rejected.
Funi's copyright page doesn't mention the OSTs but my copies clearly say FUNImation. But if in doubt, here are the scans (which are not the sharpest but I suppose I can use a camera next time instead of my scanner):

My copy also has the same "licensed by Funimation" line. I offered the torrent because: (1) the DNU list is for manga/anime only, (2) there were no newsposts banning licensed OSTs, and (3) the thread mentioned below.
But let's not talk about my offer. I don't even know if the torrent got rejected before it got deleted since MTR pointed the problem as soon as I offer it and because of that, I quickly asked for it's deletion. I didn't make this thread to argue about whether it should be accepted or not. I made this thread to clarify things. I have no intention of offering the affected soundtracks anymore regardless of the outcome of this thread.
As stated in my earlier post, there was a topic asking about the DNU list affecting only manga and anime which can be found here: http://forums.boxtorrents.com/index.php?topic=16658.0
Kureshii's response was this: Unless otherwise stated, it applies only to anime. AFAIK, licensing rights to manga and music are owned by the respective production companies (unless sublicensed to a distributor) and we haven't received C&Ds from those as yet.
I hope the staff could clarify this.
Thanks.

For the most part, we haven't received any trouble for OSTs. The DNU should be updated shortly with information about any OSTs that are blacklisted.
-
But let's not talk about my offer.
My intention was not to lay down the law around here but to explain why a similar offer had been rejected. I could go off the mouth but without the same examples I sent the mods, I'd just be another user going off at the mouth. XD
What I think matters not. I'll keep my opinions to myself, nyah?
-
I may have misinterpreted your previous post and for that I apologize. ;D
I do understand what you tried to explain. I just felt that the reply very specific to my offer and not OSTs in general. I don't want to argue about accepting/rejecting a specific offer. I don't like arguing with the rules. Please don't take it the wrong way. ;D
Anyways, I've seen the changes in the wiki. Unfortunately, it still doesn't answer some of the questions I've raised. The link provided by peebs also raised some more questions. I'm still trying to construct the questions which I will try to post later.

I'm thinking this is the best thread to post this in, I wanted to say since the days of adding Art Books/Works and Music Videos, BoxTorrents have separated itself from other trackers for anime and whatever else making it much more unique and special. The Music Videos are such a great addition to us, Box members, since it gives you a different view of Japanese music and animation. I've been listening to some while working out and sometimes I watch the video as I do so; I get myself lost while I'm looking over that. The Art Books and Works were also a fantastic addition that lets us see some inspired works of artists or the original creators of such anime. Just wanted to say thanks a lot for improving Box and making it the way it is today. =]

meh, not many official music videos out there for music from animes is there ? since an OST is a soundtrack for anime/movie/ova etc it makes sense but i just dont think there is much as far as official videos go. Putting up fan made videos = fucking retarded IMO
