Hello, I did my first test through CMD.EXE and found out that my ports are being jacked. I have comcast and noticed that EVERYBODY that has comcast said either something about the bill or being throttled(limited). Just wondering if anybody else had this problem before I go back to using base DSL. I use to get over 400kb for download and over 200kb for upload from this site. No wonder when I left my torrents up all night to upload I got only .010 ratio boost.... ???

Yes.. google sandvine. If you want help getting PAST Comcast's throttling, you need to at least tell us what client you're using.
Edit: Searching for Comcast in this forum brings up two relevant topics.

This is a common problem with Comcast and other cable providers. If I remember right there is a chart in the wiki that lists all trouble providers and what they do to control traffic but I can't seem to remember where it's at.
-
It's in the AzureusWiki. Link here (http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs).

Ah so thats where I saw it. Thanks Arveene.

Haven't had any issues with Comcast here, I seed all the time.

You'd be one of the very few who don't at least in my experience. Comcast is really bad about preventing torrent traffic of any kind.

So far my up/downstreams are avg around 400-600 sometimes up to 1.2MB/sec. Thats cuz Im with COX. I had TWC roadrunner which I prefer but theyre not where I live at now :(
Well at least its not that craptastic Clearwire. Gettin raped for 45/month for 1.5Mbps!? Im gettin around 8Mbps with COX. Pretty decent for around 44/month.

TWC has some of the best cable services around. Wish they were here but CableOne is pretty good themselves. As far as Clearwire goes, I've never heard of them so I wouldn't even poke that with a stick.

Uploaded 4.6gb today. I seed at 92kp/s, line starts getting choked if I seed more. Didn't really download anything, but it tends to average 750ish kp/s, although I've seen it peak at 1200 once. I don't do anything unusual, and I turn my computer on and seed about 12-18 hours a day every day.

That's interesting. Well, in all honesty, I do hope that it continues for ya. Wish every Comcast customer that I encounter had your connection quality, though if that happened I would be out of work. :p

No throttling here, I have a computer seeding 24x7 on Comcast. I limit the speed in uTorrent due to the usage cap since with seeding alone I can exceed the cap in a matter of days.
-
It maybe a situation where it is determined by the local market because I know Comcast is/was bad about throttling.

I just called comcast the other day to bring up this point with them.
THeir "tech" they put me thru to couldnt tell me how many kbs are in a mb...
I said dude u could have googled it in the time it took you to explain to me that its not part of your job to know things like that..
Oh sure they do the .0001 second bandwith test on that webpage they use which is NOT a real resp of your overall internet activity or connection
Yea i max out at about 1.5 mbs down and thats only on good servers i dl from on utorrent i max is about 700k
edit
also i heard they were uping it to 12 mbs down soon... thou i dont know when..
Pity cuz i only get 1/12 of that

tech support with any ISP 7 out of ten times they wont know basic terms in regards to pc or internet information in their head without lookin in a book. Well my COX upstream is steady around 90-100K/sec which I leave on 24/7 when I can. I do occasionally get spurts up to about 300k/sec upstream which I wish was held for a few hours. hehehehe. Its decent

Get business class internet. It's $12/m more with a dedicated line, guaranteed 12/1 bandwidth, and no usage cap. The customer service is also a lot better.
