Alright so earlier today, I was watching some anime like any other ordinary person. The episode ended and I went to go make some food, upon arriving back, I started up the next episode; and much to my surprise, there were no subs.
So I thought, "ok, maybe its just this ep." So i went back to the previous episode and again, no subtitles. I restarted the computer, no fix. I reinstalled CCCP, no fix.
So the subs were working fine in MPC before, but I may have bumped something.
Also the subs work fine in WMP:11, I just prefer MPC because its far less bulky and gets the job done much more quickly.
I have some strange feeling that this problem is something small and incredibly stupid, but I'd like the input of others.
I also DO NOT want any criticism on what I use, Im here looking for help, not recommendations on programs to use.
Sys info:
Windows 7 Ultimate
CCCP most recent running WMP:C
CoreAVC Professional Ed.

Try this (http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=19491.0).
Though it's weird that it should occur when you've been able to see subs so far..

Yea its strange, they worked fine for a good while, then *poof*
But this solution worked, subs back! :D
oh well, I'm glad you could link that thread to me, I guess I fail at searches.
Thanks

Hmm, I caught myself doing a *facepalm* when I realized that the issue you had was mostly targeted at Vista/Windows 7 owners using the CCCP from 2008. So I didn't think it would work but looks like it did.
Are you using the most recent CCCP 09-09-2009?

yea. But what hit me as weird was the fact that it worked fine, then messed up on its own, and stayed messed up even on reinstall...

Try VSFilter : http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm)

Thanks for that thread link Takeshi! I installed Win7 Friday night and just went to watch some 720p anime but the subs didn't come up. Adding the DirectVobSub filter fixed it though. ;D

Is this happening to everyone who installs on windows 7? I wish I knew why it worked for a week straight, then randomly decided to stop working until i did that fix...

Go HERE!! (http://shark007.net/)

the new versions of k-lite codec pack automatically add the DirectVobSub filter to the filter list in MPC
i used to have to add it myself, otherwise any softsubs wouldn't show
