Post by: Meomix on June 06, 2010, 03:03:56 PM

By the time i finished reading this my jaw failed to close.

everone doe get them it just gets more common the older u get.

"Most spots and floaters in the eye are harmless and merely annoying. Many will fade over time and become less bothersome."
the only time that it would be a cause for concern would be if u see a sudden appearance or " more than normal"

I've always been able to see loads of those. Since I was a small child. I don't think its changed noticeably. :/

And YOU could die at any moment. So what? Live thinking like that and life becomes too scary.

Well....that's preposterous. Everyone knows that those are eye-eating demon-worms that nest within your brain....DOH

At least death is determined by your ignorance and stupidity. But if in the one millionth chance your eye goes off you have only acute allotted time before it goes permanently blind!

I'm sorry, but what? Since when is death always determined by that?

Shot by a crazy taxi driver (like the people this week).
Hit by a speeding car.
Sudden allergic reaction to medicine.
Hit by lightning.

I'd say it's a very small percent of people who die because of "stupidity and ignorance".

I used to hate that site... (todayifoundout.com)

He used to ripoff shit from a subreddit I mod on reddit (todayIlearned). He's been better about it recently though. And put up a little shout out to us in his about section. Recently, he's been putting up some interesting articles/content. Gotta give him props for that.

I used to see them a lot more often when young, not as much now.

I recall this was noted in Azumanga Diaoh (I think it was)

The article says children and teens rarely see it, but I've been seeing those things since I was 10 or something. Every time I daydream I see them. Wonder if I should be worried...

I like the guy's description of a migraine to people who don't get them - or get bad headaches that they *think* are migraines.

It sums up what the real deal is.   You're completely dead, depending on how severe yours are.  ( If I get it - I'm out of commission for 8-12 hours plus. )

I see those floaters as well, but only when I look at the sky... I really don't think it's such a serious thing...

Ouch! my sympathies. I get them myself but mine are rare and short lived. I have had like 4 in my lifetime (I am 29) that lasted 4 - 6 hours. 8 - 12 hours sounds like a little slice of hell.

The first time I had one I seriously thaught I was going to die lol.

Migraines have difrences depending of person. My migraine isn't so bad, but when it is on: I start seeing some ****ing light dots in my eyes, I start feeling dizzy, it starts to be hard to move my arms, legs head and then the headache... the worst part... (for me). my mom once had so bad migraine attack that her left side paralyzed for 5 hours, she has also lost consiousness because of migraine... I first noticed that I have migraine about when I were 8 :P

I've 3 on my right eye and 2 in the left. I see them every time I watch somewhere where is bright lights or when I watch to the sky when there isn't too much clouds :P

btw. forgot to mention: I have got this now for about 7 years :P

I have one small floater in my left eye... also, I had a minor retinal detachment on the left eye since I was welding some metal bars and "forgot" to wear that protective mask. Also, due to an unfortunate self-conducted 'experiment' involving a magnifying glass and me trying to see the pixels on the LCD screen i     sprained my suspensory ligament of the lens of the left eye... the ophthalmologyst said he hasn't seen anything like that his entire career (and he was pretty old an experienced). Luckily, it fixed itself in about 2 weeks. Also, my left eye has 3 small red circular spots on the iris. My left eye kinda sucks.

I only get these when I do back flips, or flip throws in soccer.  But it is odd... when I do it on the ground i see them, But if i do a flip off a diving board or into a pool I don't.

Probably the jarring from hitting the ground lol.

Whoa, Kakashi-senpai, activating your sharingan! jk, that sucks. My right eye can't really see all that great but I manage. I guess they'd have to be black to be like a sharingan. I couldn't help it though, 3 circles on the iris. Hopefully that wasn't too bad of me to say heh.

And I didn't read the article because I'm afraid to. It sounds like you guys are talking about the little spots you see sometimes. I've mentioned it to my optometrist so I don't think it's a big deal.

Are we talking about the little clear(ish) particles that you see when you look into the sky? If so I am 21 and have tons of them, noticed them a couple years ago, they move around a lot...should I be worried here? Only really notice them when I look at the sky....

Animenook & xne3kx - Yes we are talking about those clear dots that float around our eyes, read teh article!

And ouch man i didn't even imagine that the magnifying glass could even do that, i thought it was only dangerous when eclipsing the sun.

I seem to have an annoying crowbar shaped floater in my left eye. ("- -) My left shoulder blade sprain seems to have helped increase the amount of floaters i see in my eyes dont know how they make that connection but meh, apparently your back gets sprained when you sit on the chair too much.

One day i got a sudden sharp pain to the center of the chest the level of pain were your hands instantly warp on reflex stumbled back to my room only took seconds for my legs to collapse, lasted for over 5 minutes thought i was going to die!

Apparently that episode was the caused by extreme inactivity!? Fuck that shit that was bullshit.

I have had these since I was about twelve and those migraines I have had for the last five years. I am partly colour blind, have noticed this since I was thirteen when people use to always correct me on colours I was using in artwork. Lucky enough for me is that I am not enough for it to halter most daily things I do.

Migraines for me tend to last anywhere from a day to a week depending on how bad it is and also how I deal with it. If I sleep too much it lasts longer so yeah I get screwed. Also tend to make me feel feverish the few days after I lose it. So all you that get those short ones I would trade your asses hands down... I fucking hate migraines... and yes they aren't bad headaches and I know this due to my mum having them and learning about them.

Meomix I know what those are like, I have had one and it lasted about 15 minutes for me... I my friend called his doctor and talked to him on the phone the whole time and I ended up seeing him the next day, he said I needed to get more exorcize XD I was sent to the gym. Though I think that is what first made me start paying attention to getting proper exorcize which I have not been doing as of late...

So yeah add that to a list of stress and anxiety problems, I am just the basket case... Though I still truck on and live life s best to my ability. People always get scared over things that are too small, I would rather be scared when I have a doctor tell me I have a deathly STD or a issue with my heart then OH MY GOD I may lose my eye I can see floaters.

Oh that reminds me, i had an unfortunate nack of my eye eating up huge falling dust particles, that annoying episode lasted for afew weeks to the point of me cursing.

Had afew extraordinary incidents.. being able to submerge a bee into a tv screen and bring it out as if nothing had happened - having my mom vanish infront of me in tin air and appear outside of a closed room - waking up to my parents sleeping i then blinked only to have them awake sitting down, computer and tv on and bed tucked away in the span of 1.05 seconds.

I didn't know other people saw these floaters. Damn, and here I thought my conscious brain was perceiving some kind of quantum decoherence in the fabric of reality that everyone's subconscious detects but my brain was the only one to consciously discern it. Well I guess I'm not as special as I thought...*furiously writes apology to angry physics professor*

Schizophrenia, maybe?  Seriously, it's not normal for people to have these kinds of experiences.  If you're not on some kind of weird drugs (and maybe even if you are), and you're seeing strange things like this, you might want to go to a doctor.

Lol I would see these things ALL the time. I used to think I was gifted (I was very young, so yeah) and that I could see the layouts of cities in the sky, it always was shaped like map of some sort (like those navigation maps). But then I learned those were just some random things floating in my eye and I stopped paying attention to it.

When I was a kid I used to close my eyes and press in and up on my eyes. I could see all kinds of weird stuff and it was like all green shapes I couldn't focus on. When I opened my eyes I was momentarily blind and my vision would slowly start to return. I still have perfect 20 20 vision and haven't done that in years. I also get photopsia flashes every time I cough in the dark.

LOL, yeah, that might make a difference.  As a kid, it could've just been your imagination running wild.  But if you were an adult with full developed mental faculties, and reality were warping around you, you'd have something to worry about then!
