Title: animepaper.net
Post by: Xiong Chiamiov on November 29, 2010, 08:27:46 AM
I am a donating member of AP.  They seem to do a good job of weeding all a lot of the crappy walls, leaving me with only having to trim it down another 90% or so. ;)

But it's certainly not for the code.

So, I visited again today for the first time in a while, and I see this:

What kind of shit search box is that?  Err, sorry, search... oval?

And I see that they replaced their decently-designed (if filled with idiotic comments that put things on here to shame) shoutbox with this... thing.

Folks, I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be pasted onto the middle of your footer.  There are many places for a shoutbox, but I'll admit I've never thought of that one.

At least they fixed the pagination issue by getting rid of pages.

Feel free to discuss AP, site redesigns, bad site designs, sauces for good animu walls, or my left pinky.

What browser are you using, it currently looks like this for me:
I have to say that the staff pick button seems very out of place and is in the way.

What browser are you using
Firefox 4 nightlies.  Guess it's a bug I should report, then.

I hate new animepaper as well
It's so hard to find anything there now. Hate it. Pain in the ass. Liked the old one better, a lot better.

But eh I am not really paying member so I will just shut up and go and cry over people trying to make some thing better by making it worst....

i have been a member of minitokyo and animepaper for a great many years.   my main issue with paper is that all the walls seem to have a favourite algorithm built into their ranking system.   so for this reason alone i prefer minitokyo and the scans are free.   also animepaper is always down.  not to mention the information overload that is their current design.  an absolute atrocity.   images everywhere vying for the user attention is too much.   Xiong Chiamiov - you are to kind i would say that 99% of the walls they let in are mediocre.

but it is sad i think of how poor the vast majority of walls are nowadays.   i cannot even remember the last time i faved a wall.  proper walling is truly a lost art.  :(

my search box looks like Sabur's- btw.

There was a time, long ago it seems, that animewallpapers.com was a very simple site that had an alphabetical listing of its animes and it was simple and well organized. Web2.0 ruined everything! I don't want to see the tweets of the paper's maker's best friend. I just want to see the papers!

I had a similar reaction when I saw the shoutbox at the bottom-plus of the page. I even thought that it was designed to be draggable but not yet compatible with Chrome 7 (Real men version).

version 4(5?) was better imo.

at least it doesn't show the very frequent "busy, try again later" message anymore.

good effort though.

Don't know that website but this: http://www.theanimegallery.com/wallpapers comes pretty close in no annoying chatboxes popping up from everywhere.

And this is how animepaper.net looks to me lol:
