Got a 42inch led tv and was looking for a series that is actually produced in 1080p or just looks very good in it :) thanks

Xam'd: Lost Memories
Time of Eve (2010)
Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Break Blade
the Evangelion movies
...off the top of my mind

Very few if any TV series are actually produced in 1080p. Movies are your best bet.

Basquash
Bakemonogatari
Code Geass
Fate/Stay Night

It's pretty hard to think of a series that would look good on a large screen.
I never tried it but something eccentric like Afro Samurai would create an interesting effect imo
If you pay more attention to artistic merits, I would recommend KyoAni's line of animation for good background arts and bright overall scheme if you are into their focus genre.
I guess I can recommend Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second if you want to venture into the movie genre. I would have this movie playing all the time on my large screen if my sister didn't have a nervous breakdown every time she heard the song "One more time, One more chance" (and I go off the topic)

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?tagid=35&show=animelist&do.search=search Anything on this list. Even if it isn't available above DVD resolution it is still so good that it will good at 1080p as well.

Most stuff from this list: http://bakabt.me/browse.php?keyword=1080p ;D

I dont really bother myself too much with top quality releases. I am fine with 720 stretched to fit my screen (Hard to tell the difference from 15-20 feet away) so I can't speak for many but 2 that I found looked great in 1080 were the Haruhi movie (http://bakabt.me/156764-suzumiya-haruhi-no-shoushitsu-the-disappearance-of-haruhi-suzumiya-delicio-us-1920x1080-h-264.html) and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (http://bakabt.me/142400-toki-wo-kakeru-shoujo-the-girl-who-leapt-through-time-b-g-1080p-h264.html)
There were a few others but they were already listed anyway.

Go for old, traditional cel animated series. Those are most certainly 1080p native. Very very few (if any) digitally animated series are animated in 1080p.

Another one worth trying might be KARAS. Lots of eye candy. I'm not going to comment about story, some love it, some hate it though.
