Title: WAKFU
Post by: Tatsujin on May 28, 2011, 02:50:59 AM
So ................... ................ This game ... looks pretty fucking interesting. This is done by Square Enix.

WAKFU (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg)

It's in Closed Beta. You have to register on that site to be enrolled in a chance to play in the Closed Beta. But here's what made me say "wow, I may really play this game for a long time, IF it's good".

14 Unique Classes (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide) at the moment. Interesting class names! Love how they actually made them unique! If you click on a class name, you can see how the game play is.

Items (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/items) -- Seriously ... <3

Videos, Screenshots and Concept Arts (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/media) -- Love those videos and those screenshots! The concept art is nothing less from Square Enix.

Professions (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/jobs) -- Yes, this does have professions.

There's also the Monsters (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/bestiary) section which I haven't checked out yet.

Thou' it feels like a big upgrade from Ragnarok Online, it does seem to be a Turn-Based Tactical system which I am fine with that - I wasn't fine with FFXIV's shitty battle system.

My favorite classes so far as follows:

Sram's Shadow (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/classes/4-sram-shadow) (Assassin)

Sacrier's Blood (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/classes/11-sacrier-blood) (Berserker)

Iop's Heart (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/classes/8-iop-heart) (Warrior)

Masqueraiders (http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/game-guide/classes/14-masqueraiders) (Lunatic Soldier)

I registered and hoping to get into the Beta.

This looks like it will be an MMO version of Disgaea... in which case... hopefully there is a level 9999 cap on it. I will definitely check it out, I liked RO and this doesn't look too different.

BTW, almost all MMOs are turn based. WoW, Eve Online, EQ, GW.... all of them were turn based. Now MOVING your character in this game is also tied into the turn based mechanic (which I like), so it will add strategy on top of level progression.

Looks like dofus 2.0 to me.  It's even made by the same company.  Same classes from what I can see, as well.

Yea just looked it up. I think this is dofus 2.0. I feel ashamed ... Oh well.

Well, hey, if wakfu doesn't have the nazi-coercive subscription model that dofus had (SE wasn't a part of the venture for dofus) I might give it a shot.

Erm...? GW and EVE are -not- turn based. Not in the slightest. I don't know WHERE you got that from.

Being limited in your actions by the animations of your spells + their cooldowns + mana cost =/= turn based.

I don't know if I would ever play that. Although I do like Square Enix.

definitely looks worth while. I like the ecology idea and the classes look cool.  I gotta wonder how "free to play" this game will really be.. hopefully the game is free and you simply pay for special items and that sort of thing
