Sign up for the BakaBT Mahjong Tournament here!

Make sure that you are already familiar with our Tournament Rules (http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=26240)!

For the signup, we will need the following information from you:
- Your BakaBT username and your Tenhou nick (if it is not the same as your BakaBT username)
- Your timezone and whether or not your country observes Daylight Savings Time. (If your country does not observe DST, PLEASE SAY THAT IT DOES NOT!)
- The rough times you can participate in (mornings, midday, afternoon, evening or night)

Finally, if there are some days you won't be able to play (e.g. "We are never at home on sunday", etc) please mention them too, so we can plan the games accordingly.

DO NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR US TO ARRANGE GROUPS AND SUCH. YOU CAN BE DISQUALIFIED FOR NOT PROVIDING THE NECESSARY INFORMATION!

I will not be able to play if the tournament doesn't wrap up before Nov 15.  but if it's going to be quick and we are able to get it all in before that date

Woo found this on the front page, looks awesome.

I'm not sure if I can join: I'm only available after November 2nd, which is when my exams end. Which means I'll be home all day at least until January/Feb. lol

I'm in Australia, under AEST which is GMT +10 and we are currently observing daylight saving. I can play all day (after Nov 2nd but before Uni starts, which is like March?)

I'm GMT+10, will be a wee bit busy but I'm free during weekends, on my time zone that is.
As for weekdays, any time after 10pm to 4am, my time zone as well, and I got coffee so no worries.

I'm in. I'm only a newb (Rank ６級 on Tenhou), but it looks like fun. Right now I'm BST (so GMT+1), but since the clocks go back fairly soon, it's probably just best to assume I'm GMT. Available most evenings, and some afternoons (can't really say for sure which yet though, other than Wednesdays). Tenhou nick is Bob2004, same as here.

I got the good life of research now, after the tests it's now down to number crunching, so I'm ok with any hour. But I hate mornings. I work better at night so I pull all nighters and sleep the mornings... but with a couple of days notice before hand everything should be fine.
My only real limitations are the 20/10 to 23/10 and the afternoon of the 27/10.

I would like to add that all my mahjong was self taught. A long time ago I got a sweet Hentai Mahjong game (on windows 3.11). I didn’t knew what the heck was going on, but little by little I started to pick up the game (mainly by observing how my ass was handed to me), and eventually I beat the damned game (over and over again) and without knowing it, at the time, I’ve learned a real game. Ah, the follies of youth…

Everyone who has posted so far, please go back and check your post to make sure you have included DST information! Some people have, thanks for that. But I've noticed a lot of posts that have nothing about DST! Even if your country does not observe DST, I need you to tell me that! Put something like "DST Not Observed" or "No DST" in your post!

I figured out what happened to my nick. Since the Tenhou layout has changed by itself to a newer version, let me tell you something to help you guys, just in case you think you lost your nick by unknown reason.

Simply click to the japanese phrase below the icon "PLAY" to let you go to the older version of the entrance form. Let it be downloaded, but... INSTEAD of writing your "Tenhou ID" passcode, simply write down your nick as the last time you have had it at the previous Mahjong Tournament.

vuzedome, try this out, just in case you might recover your old nick(not the vuzed-02, but the "vuzedome" nick).

- GMT+7 [no DST] until 7th Nov
- from 9th Nov onwards GMT+0 [observing DST (+1, ends 30th Oct)]
- Available late evening/night (8:30pm onwards)
- Not available on Saturday and Sunday until 8th Nov
- From 9th Nov onwards time is a bit more lenient (is more flexible, but still not available 9am-5pm)

question: what ruleset are we using? I've seen no mention about it so far. All I can assume from the info given is that we're playing 2 hanchan... mostly 'cuz playing 2 tonpuusen is weird. Maybe ariaka judging from the pic in the first page?

Preliminaries will consist of 3 hanchan games per person (against different opponents), ari ruleset, slow games (喰アリ赤), since not everyone participating is good enough for fast games. Was shown on one of the pics in the Tenhou Usage Guide for those with negligible japanese skills ;)

I'm happy to announce that we got 71 sign ups for the 2nd BakaBT Mahjong Tournament.

We will work in the next few days on the groups for the Preliminaries and will announce them here in the forum. Be sure to have an eye on it to see who you will be up against in the first phase of this years BakaBT Mahjong Tournament.
As you have maybe read already we will go with three games per person in the Preliminaries this time, which means everyone of you will at least get one more game than last time.
We hope that despite this change everyone will find a date where he can play his games.

Again, as we did last year, we want you to get used to the Tenhou Interface prior your games. If you don't want to play in the main Lobby, visit us in #LolisAndMahjong on irc.rizon.net. There are always a few players there who will play one or two games against you. If no one answers just wait some time and maybe highlight one or two of those lazy idlers there ;)

So just be patient, it shouldn't take long until you can see the planned games for the Preliminary Phase.

And with that i will close the Sign Up Phase for this year.
