Title: Sharing a seedbox with multiple users
Post by: Madman6510 on October 15, 2011, 08:31:09 PM
Me and my friends are planning on getting a seedbox to share together. How would multiple people using the same seedbox affect the ratio/multiple accounts issue? I'm worried that if one of my friends also begins downloading a torrent from here, it will detect multiple accounts and ban both of us, or something.

So, will there be no problems with the ratios and accounts getting mixed up? How does the tracker determine who's who?

(Also, what are the current "high demand" torrents? I usually only watch completed series, so I tend to be a year or two behind everyone and I'm not really in on the new stuff. I want to be above .5 when the 25GB limit kicks in)

Thanks!

This shouldn't be a problem. The tracker uses a passkey system to identify users.

I've uploaded 1tb in about 3 month on this torrent: http://bakabt.me/150602-patlabor-mobile-police-bluray-1080p-thora.html, I can't guarantee that you'll upload as much though.

Sharing a seedbox shouldn't pose a problem.
Torrents in "high" demand (http://bakabt.me/browse.php?ordertype=leechers)

Ok, I think I got this. So every .torrent file is attached to your account, so if someone else uses a torrent file from their own account, it will associate with them because it's "their" .torrent file, right?

I've gone and downloaded a few freeseeds, I'm getting ok uploads on them (better than my 1.5Mpbs download speed at home, lol), my ratio should "fix" itself in a few days without going over the limit.

I never knew seeding could become kind of a game like this. Part of it me strikes me as similar to commodity trading, you never actually see the stuff you get, you just move it around and benefit in the process (by being able to download what you actually want to see when you want to).  8)

As long as it appears on your profile as active, you are seeding it.
And yes, torrents are tracked by torrent keys which are stored in torrents you download.

This isnt making any sense. If they are sharing a seedbox they all have the same IP address. It would be the same as if i made multiple accounts (which is against the rules)

your argument does not make any sense tbh. as long as they are both seeding their own torrents it doesn't matter over which connection it's happening.
by your logic as long as i can seed from two different locations it should be fine to have two accounts? (this example is just to illustrate that the location or ip from which you are seeding has no relevance to the one account per person per lifetime rule)

Multiaccounting is not detected by IP address (at least, not really). It definitely is not detected by the IP address used by torrents, because of the system BBT uses to track and report statistics.

The system may identify you as a multiaccounter, however, if you decide to log in to the same physical computer as another user. I have personally never seen it happen. If you can prove that there are two users living in the same household sharing the same computer, by means of some photograph of the users and usernames or something, it's fine. ->? (below)

But for uploading torrents to a seedbox, there is absolutely no risk.

Freedom Kira, please don't give answers to things you don't have the full picture of how it works.
(Specifically I mean on how the system flags multiaccounters)

But part of your answer is correct, since the tracking is not done over IP, it doesn't matter if multiple users seed from same IP to different accounts. Otherwise a lot of seedbox users would be banned.
