Title: Paranormal Activity 3 - Spoliers
Post by: Osmo on October 31, 2011, 07:40:17 AM
So anyone watched the film yet?
A bit dissapointing really compared to the first two, though some good bits in it's own rights, I love the lore.
There were lots of scenes missing in the film that you saw in the trailers for this movie which is interesting and dissapointing aswell.
Considering this was the first I feel like there should have been more to it, Insidious did a much better job I'd say.
One thing I love about this film is that they don't focus on material figures as the demon, so it keeps you guessing and your imagination running wild on the possibilities.

I cracked jokes throughout the first one, I thought it was pretty awful. I didn't bother with the second but if the sequels are worse than the original, then that makes it pretty bad...

The only good scene in the first one was the pulling of girl off the bed. That's what I call GOOD EDITING/special effects!  ::)

As for the third one? I didn't even see the second one. I assume it's more of the same theme of just creeping people out in their sleep. hahah

From what I heard it is done intentionally because they wanted to make the trailer exciting, yet not to reveal any spoilers.

I haven't watched the third one yet, but I know that this is the "you hate it or love it" kind of movie. I love it because the horror movies nowadays are not scary at all. There are no fucking monsters that can scare anyone through the screen, paranormal activity however takes the approach of making the atmosphere itself scary and exploits the psychological aspect of helplessness. I like that, feeling of being helpless is what makes these movies good and it is what makes horror games like "Amnesia the dark descent" good.

Helplessness is a form of salvation, from the incessant mind matter. The monsters were never scary to begin with, being scared isn't in a physical form (unless the physical form is based on reality), it's more on a emotional knowing....somethin gs there but you can't explain it....the corner of your eye....then you think is it your imagination because there's nothing to see. And why have I just heard of that game? Seriously though I would have heard of a game like that. I doubt it got much publicity. Hmmm.

Have you run your fingers down the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When you are searching for the light?
Sometimes when you're scared to take a look
At the corner of the room
You've sensed that something is watching you

Fear of the daaark! Fear of the daaaaaaaark! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nba3Tr_GLZU&feature=related)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Try it, your only "weapon" is a flashlight, turn it on and monsters will see you, turn it off and your character will be crippled by fear. This game is made in a true lovecraftian horror fashion.

Well if that's the case then you need to play Alan Wake. Don't miss out, if you haven't played it already.

No, it's a console game.

I saw all three and I laughed at the scary stuff that happened in the PA2, more so in PA3. PA1 just made my eyes roll. As for the third one specifically, it was a pretty terrible film overall. The ending of it wasn't implemented right, it felt rushed I guess. And all the scares you see in the trailer are NOT in the film.

Overall it was a bad film.
