Title: Spoiler Screenshots
Post by: DragoZERO on May 06, 2012, 07:31:14 PM
I am seeing more and more screenshots that spoil the plot of the series being offered. Screenshots should perhaps be restricted to the first few episodes or chapters. Putting something in from the climax of the series should be an obvious no-no but alas it is not to some people.

Can the staff please consider doing something to address this problem?

Thank you.

Off the top of my head...

All three screen shots are from the latter part of the series. Not to mention you shouldn't ever use a kissing scene.

#5 reveals character motivation and #7 is from the climax of the series both spoil a lot since it's a character driven series.

We have to be able to show images from all across the series.

If a different scantlator took over, their quality has to be shown as well.  Furthermore, if there is an improvement or drop in quality in a group's releases, it will be useful to show this in the screenshots.

It's not that rampant of a problem.  Even in your so-called examples, those images don't really spoil much of anything.  They don't ruin any significant plot twist, none of the plot is spoiled.

Honestly, I don't even remember the sample screenshots after I start reading a series.

Exactly, also you probably shouldn't focus so much on reading the sample pages, rather check for quality...

But on topic, you can't expect staff to read and watch all anime and manga to know for a fact what is and what isn't a spoiler. With relatively consistent quality with anime, usually shots from first episode suffice, but with multiple group releases that are common with manga, as SeventyX7 explained, samples from across the releases are required due to show difference of quality...

If you come across a heavy spoiler, notify the uploader and ask him to replace it, and if he does not reply for an extensive period as a last option you can always report the torrent and specify the spoiler shots for staff to remove.

I did not know I can report that for the torrent. I will be sure to do that from now on.

Most of the time the uploader does change it. I thought if the rules mentioned spoiler screenshots then the problem could be prevented.

And you don't need to count on the staff to know it's a spoiler, members are capable of doing that.
