Hey bros, I saw Usagi Drop a few days ago and found it to be a pleasant watch, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of anime in the same kind of genre (adoption/live-in etc?) It doesn't have to be a parent/child sort of thing, I just prefer that style because it shows the dynamics of people having to change their lifestyles and perspectives. I'm looking for a fairly mature one, as i'm not very fond of random craziness or supernatural stuff that isn't properly explained in the plot.
For reference I've also seen:
-Kurenai
-Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai
-Aishiteru ze Baby
Usagi was my favourite out of those few, but anything along those lines is fine. I've been looking through AniDB but what I've seen so far doesn't seem to match up. Thanks in advance.

Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki
Witchblade

Thanks. I've seen Ookami. I'll check out Witchblade, although it looks a bit too sci-fi/action-based for my tastes. Was hoping for something a bit more, hmmm, realistic I guess? Would also prefer stuff without any fanservice/massive tits/lewd costumes but it's not that big of a deal.

If you can ignore sci-fi and fanservice, it is one of the best in this category.
UFO Baby
NieA_7
Seirei no Moribito
Mama wa Shougaku 4 Nensei (if you know Russian and can wait several months until its translation is completed)

Niea 7 looks pretty good, gonna put that one on the dee ell. From some of the creators of Serial Experiments Lain, eh? I hope I can understand wtf is going on in this anime lol

Akachan to Boku (AKA Baby & Me) is about a family with two children where the mother has died in a car crash. The older brother is still a child in elementary school himself, but suddenly has to take on the responsibilities of cooking and cleaning and filling the role of a mother to his baby brother because the father works twice as long at work to support them now. He has to raise his baby brother while simultaneously being denied the ability to be a kid himself, but he's still only a 10 year-old boy looking after his 2 year-old little brother that desperately misses his mother.
I haven't seen the anime since it hasn't been completely subbed yet (26 of its 35 eps have been done), but the manga was completely done by Viz so you can finish out the story that way. The manga was quite good, at least.
Another one that might fit is Ikoku Meiro no Croisée, but I haven't seen it myself. It has the whole female child suddenly being with a male guardian figure, but also has cultural differences forcing different perspectives because the girl is Japanese and they go off to France in the 1800s.

Many thanks, I'll check 'em out.

I was thinking of the anime I saw that gave me most similar feeling to Usagi Drop when I saw this threat but I couldetn remember the name of that anime.
But just now I found it by accident so I'll give you a tip about it, better late than never. :)

BTW, have you read Blood Alone?

Not sure if you are into doramas, but My Girl (Mai Garu) sounds like it could be similar to Usagi Drop based on the description (I haven't seen the drama): http://wiki.d-addicts.com/My_Girl_%28TV_Asahi%29
