Title: Usavich
Post by: archivisth on January 28, 2014, 11:23:26 PM
I noticed that the Usavich torrent was up for adoption. Since that torrent was accepted, two more volumes have come out, and the first three have been released on BluRay. Current state:

vols 1-3: Blu-ray rips available; each volume is one file with all episodes run together without chapters
vol 4: DVD rip available; one file, with chapters for each episode
vol 5: DVD ISO available; waiting for someone to rip it

So, leaving aside the Blu-rays, should the existing torrent be left as is, with additional torrents for each new volume (of 13 episodes)? Or should the current torrent be replaced with one containing 1-4 (and eventually, 1-5)?

You can probably make new offers for both BD and DVD.

No point swapping in the later seasons with that little seeders.

I was going to rip this for archivisth so I downloaded the DVD and it's a bit odd. When I play it, all the players are displaying it at 853x480.

I'm trying to use OnDeed's method of maintaining the original aspect ratio and I want to crop 2 off each side to get rid of thin black bars - since this is not a standard resolution best I could come up with is passing a --sar 32:27 and my results appear to be as they should be, I think, displayed as 849x480.

I just want to be sure because the other episodes that are up, seasons 1-3, are at 640x480 - so mine are gona look different...

Do not change the --sar value when you are just cropping, SAR doesn't change in that case, it is still 5760/4739

DVD  players (software ones, VLC, Mplayer, etc) scale to 853/480 but that is not correct. The base resolution 720x480 is supposed to get scaled to is 875x480. If you crop to 716x480, the resulting display resolution should be 870x480 (http://ps-auxw.de/cgi-bin/ar-calc.pl?source_type=ntsc&source_ar=widescreen&transform_type_1=crop&transform_x_1=716&transform_y_1=480&transform_type_2=none&transform_x_2=&transform_y_2=&transform_type_3=none&transform_x_3=&transform_y_3=&transform_type_4=none&transform_x_4=&transform_y_4=&transform_type_5=none&transform_x_5=&transform_y_5=&transform_type_6=none&transform_x_6=&transform_y_6=&transform_type_7=none&transform_x_7=&transform_y_7=&transform_type_8=none&transform_x_8=&transform_y_8=&keep=true&calculate=Calculate)

OK, good thing I asked - thanks for that.

Okay, mugz [erotes] has encoded Usavich season 5. Plan is to offer a replacement torrent with mixed groups:

s1 to s3 - randomfaggots (current torrent), 13 separate files per season
s4 - burger, 1 file for entire season
s5 - erotes, 1 file for entire season

Anyone (or a mod) see a problem with that?

Edit: offered.
