So, they're pretty much releasing the persona 4 anime (again), but with the P4G extras... lolwat?

The only thing more annoying than barely any new content is wrapping it up on tons of old content you've already seen. A single NPC social link isn't worth an entire series.

This is the surprise announcement in Atlus' "Dark Hour TV ~Persona Hour" live stream today! :D
I say it's good news, since now they get another shot at the mediocre adaptation of the True ending (or the Golden ending).
Also, it's Persona 4. Title being "Persona 4 Golden the Animation" (P4GA).

Awesome news.
I have enjoyed playing the game, I will definitely be watching this one.
Plus, I have been wanting to re-watch Persona 4.
I might as well just wait for this ;D

This was disappointing to me unless they are using it as some kinda hype / prep for more persona releases it seems such a waste to spend the money animating the series again with only small changes. The only good thing is I guess since I didn't buy persona 4 anime first time around I can just wait and buy this one now.

I could think of a few ways that they might improve on the last series.

If they want me to rewatch the series they better beef up the graphics to acceptable levels and shrink the episodes down to 12, that way it will pave the way for slightly new content.

Ugh. I just re-watched the P4 anime last winter, while playing P4 Golden at that.
Why not do a Persona 4 Arena anime instead? It could be 13 episodes, and awesome.

Alright, I don't get this. I don't see what they're trying to accomplish with this anime.
They've skipped over the exposition and much of the character introductions to make an abridged version of the introduction to the video game and anime. It's almost like the anime itself is playing on New Game+ mode where it's skipping all the superfluous stuff and just getting around to the new content. That's just a bizarre idea and I'm actually kind of getting the sense that Yu Narukami - the character - has done this before and that it's all some strange Groundhog Day experience with him at the centre. I don't know, I just think if they really wanted to bring Golden content into an anime form they could just use OVAs as an extension to the original animation or maybe a movie series with the extra material included in some fashion, because telling the main story arc seems to be a pretty secondary concern here anyways.
Aside from a pretty cool fight sequence the animation in the first episode of Golden is a bit inferior to the original anime, not dreadful but the budget isn't quite what it used to be clearly.
Also, Izanami, to my recollection, used to have more androgynous voice while here it's clearly a guy... which I'm wondering if it's significant or something.

At the beginning it's a guy's voice, then at the True ending it's her actual voice.

I hope it's good, but the whole 'sort of a retelling, but not' is worrisome to me.
