I'm gonna watch them in the order they're in, but I googled it if anyone wants to watch it in chronological order:

Kara no Kyoukai 2: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 1) (August 1995 - March 1996)
Kara no Kyoukai 7: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 2)
Kara no Kyoukai 4: Garan no Dou (June 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu (July 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 1: Fukan Fuukei (September 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen (November 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 6: Boukyaku Rokuon (January 1999)

Watch it in order it was released.  Because the last movie continues on the second movie, yet also contains the end.

Unlike Haruhi, the episodes aren't just shuffled, but parts in the movies itself jump around in the timeline.

As for explaining what is going on, familiarization with the Type-Moon releases would explain more, especially Tsukihime.

What series? There's no Tsukihime anime.
(no, but seriously, read the VN instead)
As for your question... Well, the Nasuverse is rather complicated, see here:

But they only share their ability(to a certain extent, since Ryougi's is much more powerful) and the pronunciation of their first names, since as far as I remember the kanji are different.

That is awesome! Thank you. Now I need to play all the games.

Oh, I finally saw the last chapter a few weeks ago. It was okay.

It was Nasu's early work, I think the writing was sub-par.

Kara no Kyoukai 7: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 2)
Kara no Kyoukai 4: Garan no Dou (June 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu (July 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 1: Fukan Fuukei (September 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen (November 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 6: Boukyaku Rokuon (January 1999)
Question (and hopefully it'll get answered quickly cu'z I'm about to watch this).

Should I watch this chronologically or should I watch it by the episode numbers? Never seen this before and I know it's Type-Moon. Been putting it off for a long, long time (it's also same settings as Fate/Stay Night series).

Edit -- Tatsu really needs a guide!

You should really watch by the episode numbers. It's slightly more confusing as you're thrown in the middle with nothing... but it's tons more enjoyable that way (it also gets the most boring episode/movie out of the way first). A lot of questions are raised in the first (numbered) episode... which are then slowly answered as you watch the rest. And Shiki is a babe.

Hah! Hope you're not afraid to die afterwards... or during :P

I had completely forgotten about this series. Now I want to watch it again. The most beautifully choreographed fight scenes ever. EVER! And the EDs by Kalafina... to die for.  Oblivious, Aria, Sprinter... *faints*

I can agree with this as well, watch them in the order they came out.

HOWEVER that is not the correct order chronologically anyways.

The correct order is the following:
Kara no Kyoukai 2: Satsujin Kousatsu (August 1995 - March 1996)
Kara no Kyoukai 4: Garan no Dou (June 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu (July 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 1: Fukan Fuukei (September 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen (November 1998)
Kara no Kyoukai 6: Boukyaku Rokuon (January 1999)
Kara no Kyoukai 7: Satsujin Kousatsu Part 2 (February 1999)

What is that special thingy again that is coming together with the BDs now? I think I read somewhere it's some alternative to 7?

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

I don't know if it's an "alternative to 7" or not, but it's actually a 30 minute OVA, "Final Chapter", as it's been called, for the time being referred to as the "Epilogue", which is directly based on the Novel's epilogue. I'm really hoping it goes at least a little past the closing credits of the last movie.  ;D

BTW, this is my all time favorite anime out of them all, I consider this the best work in anime that has come out yet and I doubt anything will come close to this for a very long time. :D

Yes, most definitely watch them in the order they were originally presented. The dissociative time line is very important to plot/character development as well as adding a great deal of mystery and suspense. That is also done to correspond with the dissociative personality of one of the main protagonists. The best analogy would be like a great deal of puzzle pieces that in the end are put together to create a wonderful and phenomenal mosaic of an image. :D
