Also, although the movies take place in the same world as Tsukihime it is not necessary to watch Tsukihime first. It is a stand alone serie, even if watching Tsukihime might explain some of the supernatural things that are going on you don't have to watch it to get Kara no Kyoukai's story. Not that you have asked about it yet but you might just wonder.

About the order I think you should either watch in release or in chronological depending on what you like. Also, I read that if you want to understand the story more, you watch in this order: 2, 4, 3, 1, 5, 6, (Remix,) 7, Epilogue. No idea what "(Remix)" is though. Is that recommended? Or it does not matter?

Yes CoalGirls released 720p as well. And imo it's pointless to get 1080p one, since 720p is over 20GB already.
I strongly recommend to watch it in release order, since only that will show you what a great mystery is this.
Remix you can watch if you wish to (before movie 7). It's the retelling of first 6 movies. But it's made splendidly so I personally enjoyed it.
Plus watch epilogue at the very end.

Hey, thanks! I'll pick it up from CoalGirls (correct me if I'm wrong on picking it up from them) and start as soon as I can! After I'm done, its quite possible I'm going to add this to my top anime films!
No chronological order for me, time to start the mystery!
