Quote
Based on a novel by Nasu Kinoko, writer for TYPE-MOON. Kara no Kyoukai plays in the same world as Tsukihime.

From a long sleep, Ryougi Shiki awoke.
As an after effect, she gained the power to perceive the death of things.
A power to kill anything with just a knife lures Shiki into a dark world.
The murderer from two years ago.
Swarm of floating ghosts
A girl who can bend things by just looking at them.
A spiral construction which collects people`s death.
When numerous bizarre incidents collides with Shiki`s Mystic Eyes...
her lost memories reawakens---.

The main character, Ryougi Shiki, was involved in a car accident and fell into a deep coma for two years. When she finally awoke from it, she had gained the “Eyes of Death Perception” ability but believed to have lost something instead.

The Ryougi family attempted to create human beings that exceeded normal humans, and to accomplish this, they trained their children in various martial arts and fencing, and also made them split their personalities. They believed that by using this method, one personality could be an expert in one subject while the other could be master other subjects. Shiki was no exception to this, and she had a masculine and feminine side that switched places with each other.

After having woken up from the accident, Shiki believed that her masculine personality side had died during the accident. Instead she tried to supplement the spiritually dead Shiki`s personality by her masculine tone.

Trailer 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7-OKf1YAlU

if you think you have heard of the "Eyes of Death Perception" before you are right its the same ability that Tohno Shiki and Nanaya Shiki had in Tsukihime and Melty Blood, Kara no Kyoukai was written before Tsukihime though.

and might I just say that Ryougi Shiki is fucking excellent, the main reason why she has been in my sig for so long

Watching all those series adapted from visual novels I keep hoping that sometime I will be able to play them .
Back to the topic these movies look like its worth the wait until we are able to watch them .

*casts thread necromancy*

Anyone got any suggestions which release (so far) is the better one? Aone-Menclave, Shinsen Subs, gg-Takajun are the current top three contenders...

Some of Shinsen's translations were a bit 'wtf' (e.g., "The way you put it sounds like those "Summon Night" light novels."), but apparently they're better than gg-Takajun? @_@

I'd be inclined to download and archive AonE-Menclave's, except it appears to not be anamorphic.

I like TakaJun's translations, watched a little of the movie and I love what he did with the Fate/Stay Night game translations as well. Haven't watched SHS' release yet, Menclave's one is pretty good though I can't really decide.

Garh, I'm just gonna download them all and compare. ;_; It'd be great if some more people also commented on it, because it could also decide which version we keep on box. :)

EDIT:

Someone just put this up on anidb:
Quote from: Comment on Shinsen Subs
I gave this a 5 because half the script is wrong- some examples:

Dialogue: 0,0:23:33.98,0:23:37.63,Main Kara,Tohko,0000,0000,0000,,I spent twice as much money on it, so it's much stronger than the previous one.{Checked this with WWWJDIC, and tom's was just a rephrasing >.>}
-She is actually saying its twice as strong, not that she spent twice as much money on it

Dialogue: 0,0:11:24.64,0:11:27.66,Main Kara,To,0000,0000,0000,,The answer is out of reach.
-What she says isn't that the answer is out of reach... "far" IS the answer.

Dialogue: 0,0:39:22.17,0:39:25.70,Main Kara,Mikiya,0000,0000,0000,,The way you put it sounds like those "Summon Night" light novels. {orig: When you speak like that, it sounds like you're only using the left side of your brain.}{aka wtf}
-Mikiya actually says "that sounds like something from a cheap novel"....how does that even come close
-Where did Summon Night come from? why is it relevant here... and oh yeah, its not a light novel; IT'S AN RPG.

I've just finished it today. I've re-watched the fight on the roof top like 20 times, the music and animation are just mind blowing ;D It took some time to get adjusted to Kara no Kyoukai for me, since they jump right into the story without giving the viewer any sort of introduction to things. I've seen Tsukihime (which i didn't like) and i'd heard of this before, but reason i ended up downloading it was cuz Omega's avatar intrested me and i wanted to find out who the char was ;D

So whats happening with the other 7 movies? Are the other three on anidb avalable yet, i mean the next two have been given ratings and yet there's no fansub groups listed in group status. This will be something to look forward to.

I'll be looking forward to that, however, why did you have to put up those links to YouTube. YouTube quality + bad ass-ness = sacrilege. From what I can tell, anything with "Type Moon" on the label will be very good, and I have yet to see a decent quality video stream from YouTube. Kara no Kyoukai deserves more.

That said, anyone have a torrent or direct link?

gg-Takajun's release is on this tracker.
The other groups that released: AoNE+Menclave, Shinsen Subs.

I'm not going to be downloading Shinsen's, but I will be downloading Aone+Menclave's to compare to gg-Takajun's.

chapter 3 will be released next month, 4th chapter was only released in the ciniema last month so expect another 6 months before you can see that

note chapter 2 and 7 are linked, Chapter 7 is the second part of chapter 2, so you won't know all of Ryougi's past till you've watched 7, or you read the novel

also Ryougi's Eyes of Death Perception are different form Tohno's and Nanaya, as they can only see the fated end, wheres she can see their origin as well

Both excellent and painful to endure. After watching the second chapter, the wait for it's second part is gonna be LONG :P

Fated end and Origin? The fated end part explains itself, but im not exactly sure about 'seeing' the origin. that ones a bit confusing to understand. I don't remember them talking about fated end in Tsukihime, so this must come directly from the Kara no Kyoukai novals. I don't suppose there is any online traslated version of the novals about like with Suzumiya haruhi novals?

'Akasha' is the origin of everything, where everything, anything and everyone comes from.

Ryougi connects to the Akasha... and I forget the rest. Go to Baka-Tsuki for a WIP project on the translation of the novels.

Nanaya/Tohno Shiki see 'the death of things' or, to put it another way, 'the (fated) end'.

If I'm recalling correctly, Nanaya's power is more of 'because you killed it, it was cut'. Ryougi's power may be 'because you erased its existence, it was cut'. Where erasing the existence is destroying the Akashic record... maybe.

Quote from: Type-Moon Wiki
Ryougi Shiki: Possesses the ability to perceive the death of life force and also the death of the existence of objects and concepts alike. At this level, it enables her to perceive and annihilate physical material, persons, diseases, ghosts, intentions, and even magecraft.

Ah, I get it all now. thanks for the explaintion Kanzar ;D

gg have Chapter 2 avalable now!!! Thats made my day, it's going to get watched like 100 times ;D

edit: here's a direct link for anyone intrested.
I finished watching it. OMG, it was amazing. I loved the developments between Kokutou, Shiki and SHIKI, imo it's better then the frist chapter. Argh, part two is so far away :'(
