EDIT: And don't forget Hizaki's solo project, particularly "Curse of Virgo." I still prefer that EP to anything Versailles have done to the point I once knew how to play the entirety of Race Wish on guitar. I've forgotten most of it now though :(

Is the sound on the vid distorted or does he really sport such an horrendous guitar tone ? On a second thought, the whole mix is a terrible mess.  Drumming sounds flat and lifeless, almost mechanic -programmed ?-, bass drum is too loud and out of sync, snare sounds hollow and keys move in and out of focus, sometimes disappearing then getting obnoxious.

Decent skills, but nothing in the playing or the music that hasn't been done to death by every single shredder since the early 80s.

You could say that about every neo-classical guitarist. The vid quality is a bit dodgy (there seems to be some weird delay on it) but the key is in the melodies produced. Eh, I'm a fan of neo-classical playing, I just hate it when people learn the scales and think that's a license to masturbate and forget that they were meant to be making something musical at some point. I think the drums are done by machine. Hizaki doesn't exactly play the drums (though the keys/bass is probably him).

I think Hizaki Grace project is okay but Versailles is much more professional and creative than HGP ever was, (But HGP was independant hurr durr, i don't care, it's those small things that makes the difference. you can actually hear the pick scraping against the string in the solo in Mizerable which makes it sound cheap).

Hizaki's solo's in HGP are pretty standard and boring, i think Teru did a better job than him when it comes to solos.
(i'm not sure about the spelling on this one) Dokusaisha to Katsubou is a great example of Teru's skills.

Race wish is overrated.

That said, Hizaki's solos in Versailles are divine.

I haven't listened to much metal lately, but I have a long history with it (and I helped start off this post by arguing about the true definition of "Metal", in true intellectually elitist form).

I've noticed more and more that new metal bands are very formulaic, and it reminded me of the late 90s, early 2000s, when there were a lot of "music schools" opening around the country and advertised constantly on the radio.  I put it in quotes because it wasn't like a real college or anything, it was a fast-track program for learning how to play mainstream rock/metal.  Now, 5-6 years later, the music scene is awash with these kinds of bands, and they all sound the same to me.  I'm over-generalizing, I know, but I think someone here has to know what I mean by all this.

Does anyone else notice that trend?

i was listening to ron and fez on xm the other day and ron was interviewing bob geldof, and i think he summed it up pretty good.

Everyone has the means to say anything they want to say, but nobody has anything to say.  So how do we get to the filtered excellence?…If you can get something for free, you attach no value for it… most people are shit.  If you have nothing to say, shut the fuck up instead of boring us with the drivel. Where is the point of view, the original take on things?”

Thats the quote from the interview

I've heard that Lost Dreams album a few times; it's pretty good.  I haven't kept up with Fear Factory in a long time, but Mechina sounds a hell of a lot like them.  I'm going to give them a more thorough listen.  Don't have the time right now to check out the other bands.  I think one of my friends is a fan of Miseration.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

I confused a Finnish guy last week by mentioning Stone. I paraphrase:

Now that is a fine list if I've ever seen one. I've been following Sybreed ever since their debut album back in (I think it's) 2004.

Also, if you didn't know, the vocalist for Miseration is/was in several other bands you'll probably like. Scar Symmetry (Formerly anyway) Melodic Death Metal, and Solution .45 (Currently) also Melodic Death Metal. He has an amazingly impressive clean vocal range as well, so when you have music where he does both...no words to describe it.

Scar Symmetry and Solution .45 are both very high on my list of favorite bands.

Anyway, some others that may tickle someone's fancy.

Fleshgod Apocalypse (Technical Death Metal.) These guys here are very impressive, especially cause they have a slight groove element that puts them, in my opinion, above the other bands of their genre.
Infection of the White Throne This song has one of the best breakdowns you'll hear, ever.
As Tyrants Fall

Swallow the Sun (Doom/Melodic Death Metal.)
Hope
The Justice of Suffering

Solution .45 (As talked about above.)
Bladed Vaults Has guest vocals from Mikael Stanne (Of Dark Tranquility) He wrote most if not all the songs on this album.
For Aeons Past The title track.

Scar Symmetry (Ditto) My personal favorite band.
Holographic Universe
2012 - Demise of the 5th Sun

Figure I'll finish off this post with the band that started me onto proper metal.

Fear Factory (Industrial Metal.)
Smasher/Devourer
Hurt Conveyor

I could literally go on all day, but no doubt all of these guys have been mentioned somewhere in this thread already, so I'll leave it at that.

I actually listen to and adore both. I have followed Christian for a while band wise since I heard Pitch Black Progress album from Scar Symmetry. He does really have a wide range of vocals. Shame he left Scar Symmetry, but, stuff happens. Though, I still have a slight laugh when i remember it took 2 guys to replace him. Not taking anything away from them, it just amuses me. Scar Symmetry's Unseen Empire is quite a good album though. :)

And Slave Design was released in 2004, yes. Sybreed are just, pure win. Listened to Challenger yet? :o

And a couple more bands for fun. :)

Zonaria
Rendered in Vain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7qWDm5NIoQ
Attending Annihilation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnRzO3cd4GE (It features Christian Alvestam too :p)

Vital Remains
- Dechristianize

Not that I've listened to a lot of death metal, but Dechristianize is just about the only death metal album I've ever listened to that I liked.  The title track itself is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard.  The contrast between the gut-wrenching brutality of the rhythm & vocals and the almost transcendant beauty of the lead guitar astounds me every time I hear that song.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

^ I only listen to Dechristianize during my morning 'workout' with my drum kit (not that I ever finish playing along with the song XD). I like Forever Underground more than Dechristianize but everyone has their own preference.

It's an invitation to join a social group, this is no more an advertising than linking to youtube video of a song. Also it is kind of on-topic.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?
