I love mainly thrash metal.

Slayer
Megadeth
Metallica
Anthrax

Favourites are slayer and megadeth, i prefered metallica when it was their earlier albums but they are still good.
I also listen to rammstein, rob zombie, alestorm, children of bodom, iron maiden, korn, lamb of god, system of a down, mastodon, motorhead, pantera, rage against the machine.

My tastes vary but the first "metal" song i ever heard was fuel by metallica :D

And thats bout it.

I grew up on thrash in the 80s & 90s, but eventually grew out of it.  I don't dislike it now, I just don't actively seek it out anymore.  I think the first song I ever listened to where I knew I was crossing from hard rock into metal was also Metallica -- The Four Horsemen, in like 1987 or 1988.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Most of the thrash I listen to these days is Japanese. Ironically, Volcano's attempt at Bay Area Thrash is better than most from Bay Area, and Gargoyle's 25 year career is the only one that still interests me. That said, Gama Bomb do put on the best lives shows... ^_^

For anyone not keeping up this year, stuff you should look into:

Ihsahn - Eremita (Extreme Prog)
Circus Maximus - Nine (Heavy Prog)
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandora's Pinata (Avant-Garde)
Allegaeon - Formshifter (Melodic Tech Death)
Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I (Extreme Prog)
Grand Magus - The Hunt (Trad/Doom)
Accept - Stalingrad (Trad/Speed)

I have Circus Maximus, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Grand Magus, and Ihsahn. Of all the 4 LP, I found myself keep on going back to Circus Maximus's Nine and Diablo Swing Orchestra's Pandora's PiƱata. Ihsahn & Grand Magus sounds average when comparing to their previous works.

Oh, and Deathspell Omega is putting out a new EP this month, so I have that to look forward to.

Grand Magus' new one still ain't as good as "Iron Will" but it's still a good listen imo, even if they have dropped most of the Doom influences. "Average" is, however, the last word I would use to describe Ihsahn :P

That we can agreed on. I can't remember how many times I've been spoiled by songs like "Beyond Good and Evil" with its crushing opening and "I Am the North" with the best chorus - ever, on the album.

"Average" is, however, the last word I would use to describe Ihsahn :P

Haha, it can't be help since I've only spin the album twice so far, and Eremita feels like a grower so my opinion about it may change in the future.

Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandora's Pinata (Avant-Garde)

What did I just listen to? This must be that mix of swing and metal that a friend of mine mentioned once.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

You haven't heard DSO before? They've been making waves for a while now. Nuts live show too, mostly because the audience can't quite agree on what they should be doing xD

I love it when Jazz is mixed into more rock-based styles; Deep Turtle, Midori, Alamaailman Vasarat and so on ^_^

EDIT: And if we're competing for being the most insane, Pin-Up Went Down is crazier than Unexpect; a jazzy J-pop influenced Disco/Death Metal tribute to Anaal Nathrakh.

More circus music for me. Thanks for the recommendation, they are quite, errr, entertaining.  ;D

Haha, I have the tendency to refer to all avant-garde music as circus music.

But seriously, thanks for making me aware about Pin-Up Went Down.

I've never got around to listening to their second album. I found the first a novelty one-time listen.

EDIT:

This just leaked. Definitely my album of the year so far.

Personally I'm a fan of progressive and thrash.

When it's progressive/technical thrash, it's TEH SHIT for me.

So yeah, favorite bands are Aspid, Twisted into Form, Anacrusis, Mekong Delta, Master Damned, Paralysis, Blind Illusion, Cyclone Temple, Tidal Wave, Toxik, Geisha Goner, Acid Death... And many more, these are just off the top of my head. :)

And I haven't partied without banging to The Crown - Crowned Unholy album for over six years. Every damn party. :D Still starts pumping my blood. \m/

Deathrace King is by far my favorite album by The Crown. Their re-union album is a big letdown to me.
