I think it's a few more than that, going by this classification:

More going by this. A lot more...

I love the Metal Archives.  I've stumbled across some pretty cool bands by digging through those pages.  BNR has turned me on to a few good bands over the years as well.

I agree on BNR, his musical taste is actually quite close to mine. I also like the no-nonsense tone the site uses. Only information but no judgement about quality, only a few hints about personal favourites. The Metal Archives are a must, as they pretty much are the most complete source you can find.

Well, since it's been exactly one month since the last post, I thought I'd offer what goodies I'd dredged up of late.

Distorted Harmony - Utopia - Review [Heavy Prog]
Without a doubt one of my favourite albums this year, if you're a fan of Prog in any way, especially of artist's like Haken and Porcupine Tree, you really out to check these guys out.

My Sleeping Karma - Soma - Review [Psychedelic/Folk/Prog/Stoner/Post-Rock]
It's difficult to explain this one, but the music makes perfect sense even if it doesn't fit into one category neatly. Very zen-inspired, this album is all about the mysterious Soma; the Buddhist drink of the gods granting immortality to those who follow it's path, only the plant used to create has been lost. Therein lies the quest, to consume these exotic hallucinogenic plants in order to find the Soma and begin your path.

Sophicide - Perdition of the Sublime - Review [Tech/Death]
This guy is nuts; 22 years old, wrote the entire thing and performed it; polyrhythmic drum lines, deep guttural vocals, thick bass notes and some of the tastiest guitar solos I've heard all year.

Sorathian Dawn - Sorathian Dawn - Review [Prog/Black/Thrash]
Combining underground legends Dred/Ouroboros with the underrated creator of Bane of Isildur and this is what you get; some insane drumming, warbling tremolo riffs, and a sound that still somehow manages to be catchy.
