They plan to make more OVAs (like Solid State Society), not series.

Touching up on this, has there been any announcements about the next OVA release after Solid State?

Meh, if the series kept the same feel as the original GitS movie, then I might've cared for these last 2 series.

To me, SAC is hella boring. Too much talking and not enough action.

You may be the first person to assert that SAC is boring and the movies aren't. Did you, um, watch the whole thing?

xanthic, this series explains a philosophy so uh...yes talking is necessary
series like ghost in the shell was what anime used to be about
now theres stupid crap like naruto (which is for kids) that people watch just for action or fun
if you dont want to think about an anime that requires it, don't pass judgement on it so carelessly
directors put a lot of effort into series like ghost in the shell

ROFL, I can't believe these bozos are complaining about GITS.  Just go back to your Naruto/Bleach/One Peace and STFU.  Only people with taste here please!

(yes I know my post is mostly baseless ranting, but you deserve it! LOL, take it as a mix of humor and truth.)

My point is, there's a balance between action and plot. I don't mind figuring out the plot on my own as the show goes on, but not when they're explaining it through most of the show only to end up with a short segment of actual action somewhere in between. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some retarded action junkie who watches only fast-paced series. But to me, SAC was just lacking. Not once did the series give off the same feel as in the movie when Kusanagi was on the boat diving, or chasing the guy with the armor piercing submachine gun, or the fight with the automated tank at the end. It just didn't feel like how GitS should be.

Nice flame, I especially liked the part where you trashed him by assuming he likes series that you think are stupid. So not only did you flame him you flamed all the Naruto etc. fans by association as well, that shows some skill in flaming and trolling.

Oh, okay then. Yes, they are significantly different, and you're allowed to like the storytelling methods in one but not the other. At least, until the revolution comes.

Yeah, but at least the naruto fans deserve it....   ;)

The series are a parallel universe to the movies. Except for SSS, which comes after the series.

ghost in the shell
ghost in the shell 2: innocence

ghost in the shell: SAC 1
ghost in the shell: SAC 2
ghost in the shell: solid state society

I found the build up to fights very rewarding.  Super complex plots make it even more interesting for me and the hacking exploits were all pretty intense.

In the end its like this; even as great and omnipotent as GITS is, if everyone liked the same things the world would be a damn boring place.
Some people are destined to live without enjoying the great things in life :'(

Apparently, there will be no more GitS anything =\
My source is Madman Entertainment, the distributor of all anime DVDs in Australia. They said with the release of a GitS SAC DVD that it is the last one.
