Kakashi hides his (normal) Sharingan to save chakra because his Sharingan is permantly and if he used that eye like his normal eye meaning to see it would consume too much chakra. The same could be applied to Danzou but I believe he covers it to not reveal that he has a Sharingan eye.

Yes... but look back at the point I made regarding control. If what you say is correct, then Kakashi possibly lacks the "basic skill" of turning on and off his sharingan?
Or do we also have to assume that having the sharingan alone will drain chakra? (Even with a normal eye)

Didn't he himself said that his normal sharingan is permantly active thus covering it to save chakra? I haven't read the earlier posts.

I don't recall seeing that point specifically in the beginning. But it could make sense.

I think he explained it with the sharingan having been active when the eye was transplanted but I could confuse things here. It's been a long time since I read the older chapters.
