Macross Frontier

--- Quote from: Aneroph on August 15, 2009, 04:50:40 AM --- (click to show/hide) Ranka's mother, Grace, and Sheryl's grandmother (I think) were all scientists working on discovering the secrets of the Vajra. Ranka's mother was infected with the virus unknowingly which is why Ranka had the ability to control the Vajra with her voice. They never come right out and say it, but it would be easy to assume that Sheryl's grandmother contracted the disease also and gave the ability to Sheryl (though it was more diluted since it went through two bloodlines). The connection was made with the earrings that Sheryl wears (explained somewhere in the last 2 episodes).

(click to show/hide)I'm not so sure if Sheryl's infection was inherited by her grandmother. They didn't mention that Mao Nome was infected and we don't know how long she's been studying the Vajra. So we don't know if Mao Nome was already pregnant with Sheryl's mother if she got infected.
For we have very little knowledge about the virus's background it could be that the Galaxy was already infected because the research was somehow connected with the companies on the Galaxy (I would guess) and Sheryl was one among the few that got infected in the slums or wheresoever.
It's difficult to say if she inherited the infection or if she got infected on the Galaxy.

--- Quote from: relic2279 on August 15, 2009, 03:37:24 AM ---I haven't seen Frontier since the last episode aired... I still prefer balls to the wall Sheryl over emo Ranka. :D Though I prefer Ranka's voice. Even though both have amazing voices.

I loved the ending. It was perfect. Thank god Alto didn't choose between the two; you could tell how amazing both were. Tho', in the very end. I still cheer for Sheryl. Her lyrics, voice, songs, maturity, hair style and color! She deserves him! :D

(click to show/hide)I would have felt bad for either girl if Alto had picked one of them. I liked how it ending ambiguously.
I feel obligated to add, "Hell no, Ranka deserved him," but the truth is, both of them very much deserved him but he simply didn't pick. Just because Sheryl is your favorite doesn't really mean only she deserves him. Songs and hair color are hardly enough for such a thing... Both girls did a ton for Alto and clearly felt the utmost affection for him.
(click to show/hide)I think the conclusion to draw from this is that Alto would rather fly a jet than kiss a girl. Related:

(click to show/hide)They only outlined Sheryl's past. There wasn't a significant connection and both of you are doing it -- assuming stuff. We don't know. Another thing is how did she end up in Frontier? Her life? Etc. I want to know those things. The movie's poster has Sheryl all over it so I am rooting for her to be the main lead in that movie.

The entire first half of the series was plastered with Sheryl's posters, I think you're doing the assuming now ;) (click to show/hide)Really, they didn't even scratch the surface of Ranka's past either so most likely the movie will end up about everyone in general. We don't really know that much about Grace either I suppose, but I doubt the dead villain will get any screen time except in a few flashbacks. Still, I haven't seen anyone that has seen the beginning series and movies step forward and tell us just how much of each girls past you should already know about. Perhaps in the old series you learn everything about Dr. Nome and the connections we made up above were supposed to be implied if you watched the old series. Dangit....I think I might have to check out the older stuff and see if their any good.
newy:
(click to show/hide)Mao Nome was never mentioned in any of the old series. Her first appearance and mentioning was in Macross Zero. In the old ones she either didn't existed or Studio Nue didn't want to reveal her at these times
Edit: Sorry :P It was 9 am MEST when I wrote that, just before I wanted to ge to sleep after a night playing Tales of Symphonia (GameCube) on the Wii, hehe.
