Macross Frontier

Tatsujin:
Newy! The spoiler, fix it >_<

I'm starting from Macross Zero and leading the way as to what Newy recommended. I saw the old 1984 graphics, I was about to throw up. But I'm interested in characters and storyline.

Btw ... when you have a poster of the new movie with Sheryl all over it, you know who's the main story is going to focus on.

You're right, my mistake. It slipped my mind since everyone in the thread for the past couple of pages has finished the series.

There wasn't a significant connection and both of you are doing it -- assuming stuff. We don't know. Another thing is how did she end up in Frontier? Her life? Etc. I want to know those things. The movie's poster has Sheryl all over it so I am rooting for her to be the main lead in that movie.

Ranka and Sheryl are both main characters in the show. That's how it is, and that's how it's always going to be. Sheryl's face was also on the cover of the Macross Frontier Vocal Collection but that doesn't mean she was the main part of the album. In fact, if I remember correctly, Ranka had a couple more songs than Sheryl.

Imo, if you let your affection for one character diminish your affection for the other, it really makes the series less enjoyable. I'm glad that I really liked both Ranka and Sheryl while watching the show, and that I still do now, although I favor Ranka. It made it more fun to appreciate and value both characters. A friend of mine watched it around the same time as me and he didn't like Sheryl at all. I felt that he was missing out on an important part of the series.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Hating either of the girls would just ruin the show. I started out not liking Sheryl at all, but eventually I grew to like her about as much as Ranka (though I still don't like what the creators of the show did with her hair :P). On the actual singing side of things I like Ranka a lot better. Just listen to Seryl Aimo then the original Aimo and it's clear who is the winner. I couldn't actually listen through the Sheryl version all the way.

Your right, I'll give a little credit to Ranka. I still don't like her. =/

Took the words right out of my mouth. Hating either of the girls would just ruin the show. >_>;; The song is alright, I prefer Arturia's song from Fate/Stay Night over it. If we're going to compare Macross Frontier songs only, I prefer Sheryl's Diamond Crevasse.

I also prefer Ranka's singing. Though I really enjoy Sheryl's voice, I generally only listen to her in the duets. The only song of hers I listen to on her own is Diamond Crevasse. You're right about the Aimo, though. Sheryl's rendition was absolutely terrible. Ranka transitions to Sheryl's songs much better than the reciprocal.

If we're talking about Macross songs, my top favorite is What 'bout my Star?@Formo with Ranka and Sheryl followed by Watashi no Kare wa Pilot by Ranka.
