I donno, to me if you're less entertained for 4-6 episodes it means you're missing out on something that other people enjoyed. Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to diminish your enjoyment of the series. It's clear that you loved Macross Frontier. It's just my personal belief that if you liked Ranka you would have enjoyed it even more, especially during those episodes. I'm not telling you to like Ranka, since something like that obviously can't be forced. Just explaining my thoughts further. :)

That asshole? I never liked him from the beginning.

Agreed on this. I think they sort of made it too obvious that he was evil from the beginning. He just had that certain vibe. It felt like they didn't want you to like him.

Yea. As you stated, that's your opinion. In my opinion, I enjoyed it as much. I like Ranka so I won't add "just" or "buts" to it since I've already explained myself. Even if I stated it was boring and killed the on-going mood I was in and I did slow down around episode 11 to 15 until the duel song happened and Grace did all those things (we know what) and Sheryl's past, at least most of it, opened up. I like hyper anime and Macross Frontier had it all!
Now that we're talking about Kishima, ... they don't tell us what happens to him after they capture him at the end. Hmm ... makes you wonder! ;]

What makes me wonder is the way of thinking of Alto, Klan and Luca.
(click to show/hide)When Captain Wilder decided to desert the Frontier fleet these three stayed behind. Well, that's somehow understandable they want to protect someone (why did Klan stay behind?). But then after the Quarter rescued the Battle Frontier from that Cruiser-class Vajra they switch to "lived happily ever after"-mode and sided with the Quarter again. Why?! I don't understand their change of mind. Ok, Quarter had evidence for Grace's plot. Was that really everything needed to convince them. To me this sounds absolutely inconsequent of those three... and strangely Klan was the first to be on their side again saying, 'What took you so long?'. To me this sounds as if she was plotting with them playing some kind of a spy. Same thing could be said about Alto but Luca... I don't understand him at all. He himself said he'd do everything to protect Nanase. He decided to stay behind although (I think you can call them that) his friends mailed everyone about Ranka and their desertion. He probably knew that if he went with them he couldn't protect her so he sticked to the bad side. He has put realism before friendship, trust and whatsoever. That's easy to understand... Well, then the events happened leading to the upper part of this spoiler.
EDIT: Ok, I think I know why Klan stayed behind. Simple revenge because she's a Zentradi and "can't shut up and do nothing after losing the man I (she) love(s)"
Can someone enlighten me on the change of mind? That's what I didn't understand the first time I watched it, too.
EDIT2: Finished. Great show!!

If my memory recalls correctly, Klan stayed behind because his grave was there ... She wanted to be close to him, not further away from him. Klan is smart in my opinion, despite her acting. I honestly felt that Klan's story was too short compared to Sheryl's and Ranka's.

In my eyes she was the most rational of them. Do you have an explanation/a theory for the others?
