Alto stayed for Sheryl ... he has feelings for her, as he does for Ranka. Tho' after learning what's happening to Sheryl it somewhat hit him pretty hard, besides the fact that Ranka left him for her own reasoning. That genius kid stayed for that girl. I can understand their points. I don't see a problem with Klan staying behind. I would have done the same thing. She was attached to him to the very core ... after all, Michael died in the worst possible situation, with a confession at the last moment ... so you gotta take Klan's feelings. He doesn't get to feel her body either way. Klan's got the hottest body out of the girls in Macross Frontier, despite she's a giant (scary ...). I still prefer Sheryl's >_<!

Can you explain their change of mind? (click to show/hide)The reasons why they stayed behind were quite understandable but not why they suddenly sided with the SMS derserters. At least for me. I mean they changed sides as soon as the Quarter was back. Just from one moment to the next. So to say in a split second without a (for me) satisfying reason. In my eyes they even sided without any reason! And that's not understandable for me :/

(click to show/hide)I suggest re-watching the scene (ignore the music, it tends to make things really hyper and tosses the person's mind astray). What happens is that they were fighting Varja, getting doomed, and all the sudden SMS comes out of no where and saves the day -- The scene with Sheryl getting knocked down and one of the Varja was going to literally blow her to pieces, she was saved thanks to SMS -- That's one point that they are on their side. Plus the fact that it was an open-connection to (possibly) not only the Head Command in the ship with Kishima, where they revealed what he is all up to, but also it was open to the other SMS fighters.
Your making me want to watch this anime again ... >_< I loved it when Sheryl and Ranka were singing on the stage. I like the artwork and designs they did for Sheryl, it was amazing and still is.

Hmm, then the rhetoric and the evidence must have been very convincing. Not very satisfying but I accept it :/
