I think they did a MF concert back in July, no? Been waiting to see Megumi and May'n perform Lion live together. Hopefully someone will find it and upload it soon as the concert DVD is released. I've searched youtube and niconicodouga already but no luck.

Agreed, the duets would be awesome, but lots of the songs have a lot of artificial effects and backup vocals from the same person singing lead, so it'd be interesting to see how they performed it.

Lip sync. That's how most pop artists, Japan or otherwise, do live concerts. Especially in Japan where most pop singers come with choreographed dances that would leave them utterly breathless by the time the song finishes. Even if they didn't lip sync it's not like it would be hard to just remove the main singing part from the track and play it while the girl sings along with it.

Lip sync. That's how most pop artists

Watch some live japanese pop songs on youtube. Most DON'T lip sync. You won't find a single one of May'n or Megumi from Macross doing it on youtube during a live concert... Or even the great Nana Mizuki during the huge live fighter and red/blue side concerts.

Yup, saw couple of May'n. I wouldn't mind hearing her with or without lip sync. After all, it is a live concert.

I've seen a lot of Japanese live concerts on youtube and it's apparent that they have to lip sync mostly because of the voice effects and the random choreography. Perfume and the girls from Hare Hare Yukai are great examples. I present, exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMNZTF4amvw and exhibit B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ5krRGKxtk&feature=related. Lip syncing is actually really good these days, and usually the track playing is set low so the singer can still sing over it when they have the breath/mic/and voice. Looking at the May'n videos on youtube she looks legit though.

Yeah, I'll give ya that. The ones with strenuous dance routines lip sync, but to Aya Hirano and the rest of the hare hare yukai girls credit, that's the only song they lip sync in that concert. (I have a copy of it on my harddrive. Has it been uploaded to bakabt yet? I think lupin was gonna offer it)

edit: oops, the one right before it they lip sync too. Also heavy dancing.

That's still stuck at translation. Vuzedome dropped it several months ago. Fortunately, I found a Japanese translator (Vuze is CH->EN). She's a Japanese language professor in the university I'm in. I won't be expecting it to be finished anytime soon though. I also got the DVDs for the concert so I won't be using any of the raws available online.

Back to the topic, I've been trying to hunt down models for the VFs in the show.

It wasn't really a Frontier Concert, it was a Yoko Kanno concert. I was there and it was mind-blowing.

May'n's performance of "Diamond Crevasse" was a total show-stopper. They extended it out to probably nine or ten minutes of slow-burning drama.

Megumi Nakajima also did a great version of "Voices," which I think is floating around on youtube.

As good as the Frontier stuff was, though, I was made happiest by the Cowboy Bebop songs.

Long time ago, right? There's a difference between the past and the present.  :)

No, the concert was last July. That's not a long time ago.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. ???

Not a Cowboy Bebop fan, never been or was. The movie was good, the TV series was ... waste of time. ._.;;

Macross Frontier, on the other hand, was rapidly awesome from beginning till the end. The songs just add a big push to it as well.

I agree that it was a great anime from beginning til end. However, and this is purely my opinion, I wish the main character wasn't such a metro. Again, that's just my grudge, but otherwise he was okay despite being a typical japanese main character that happens to act like he doesn't know every girl is out to get him.

I'm purely jealous, actually.
