The Macross F Budoukan concert was such a huge success, Mayn's next concert sold out in record time:

"Many of you might know of the Budokan, one of the biggest and most popular venues to play at in Japan. No one was really surprised when May'n announced a concert there, especially after her fantastic rise in popularity due much to her part as Sheryl in Macross Frontier.

The concert takes place on Janurary 24th, and if you hoping to get tickets, you're out of luck. After the tickets went on sale, they sold out in 3 and a half hours -- all 8000 of them. While I'm sure there's a good portion that are Macross-loving otaku, I think it really shows her popularity, as if the chart topping albums didn't convince you already."

Small question about this show: is this show similar to Toppa Tenga Gurren Lagann?? Being mecha and also 26 eps (not counting the recap for TTGL)

It's not similar at all. You basically have to like the whole Japanese idol-thing to like this show.

Macross Frontier > Toppa Tenga Gurren Lagann.

Except storytelling. Gurren Lagann has a stronger connection.

Hmm I see... also, I've not seen a single macross episode from the previous series. So I guess I would have to pass on this since it would require previous knowledge? Or am I wrong to presume that?

No, no knowledge about the previous series needed. The stories are all independent from each other. Some events or names from the other series are mentioned but not important for the plot. Just nice cameos.

I watched this with no previous experience and loved it.

Man I just have to say that I think I have a new favorite anime.
Haven't seen too many mecha anime, but glad I decided to start this one.

I just finished ep20 and it was so emotion-stirring I almost walked away to take a breather.
This series tore at me almost as much as Clannad AS.

Also think it might have spurred my interest in the Macross universe.

Yeah, I'm not a big mecha fan myself and I dug this anime. I watched Macross Zero recently and didn't care for it that much. Maybe I was expecting something like Macross F caliber. I'll have to try out a different one and set my expectations a little lower.

altough l really want to watch this anime, the fact that it has Mechs is strongly pulling me away from the torrent click, l need help in some way.
It's really dificult, my sole dislike towards Mech Anime and the knowledge that this show is really good in it's own story, gonna have to buy a clone for this and play monopoly with it, the winner takes decision, clone for, me against, *sigh*

Well if it's any consolation, I dislike mecha anime. The only 2 I've ever seen and liked were Evangelion and Macross F...

(Yes I've seen Gurren lagann, and it goes against popular opinion, but I didn't like it at all)

Actually does Code Geass count as a mecha anime? I sorta liked that one.

Hmm, I will watch this but is it safe to watch? I mean as in the LCD in my house is in a place where many people pass by so if it has ecchi or *ahem ahem* then I should watch it on my pc. So which one is it?

Watch it on the LCD. It's not that kind of anime. Your folk would rather wonder where the music is coming from.

Definitely a 'safe for work' anime. I'd show it to my brother kids if they had the attention span and dedication to read subs.

I'd also like to add that THORA's release in 720p is just gorgeous.(Watching on a 20" 16x9 monitor)

I like Lunar's subs better though. Although THORA is excellent too.

THORA only do the encoding, they use subs form other groups.

But yeh it's rather safe, since it's not that kind of anime, tough when l was at home l never had a problem even watching Chobits or the like (back then) more so, my sister always said it's pure porn, but somehow she was somplace watching it as well, shes plain stupid, l dunno, maybe fathers genes, l dunno, or maybe they swapped her in the hospital (please) and my mom always liked watching anime l brought or DLed (ofc not hentai, she never even seen any lol) so l guess l was blessed with some understanding at home, now l can watch even in the bath on my lappy, since l live alone (ocasionally with my gf)

Macross F movie: 220,000 viewers in 2 weeks on 30 screens
Think about that for a minute. That's a lot people for only 30 screens. In fact, according to animeanime, the Macross F movie is the  highest current per-screen grossing film in Japan. They're saying it has been a standing room only affair, making triple per screen over any other movie out there.

Even with as small of a screen number as it has, Variety says that it's still #9 in the top ten.  Nice going, little movie.

I don't know about you, but I'd gladly stand at any of these fine Japanese theaters to watch it.
