Macross Frontier
« on: March 08, 2008, 08:49:20 PM »
So the first episode came out last year and I have been trying to find out the release date for the next one. Due to my lack of skill in katanaka I have not been able to find out when the next episode will air in Japan. Allso imho the pilot looked quite promising. :D

ps. Sorry for possible typos, I'm wasted.

Hey, at least it's not as bad as Macross Zero...six long months between each 30 minute episode...THAT was torture.

According to some anime db's it's atleast marked as a TV-series, the quality looks more like an OVA tough.

The Macross franchise has several parallel universes in it among which are:  Macross TV, Robotech, Macross - Do You Remember Love?, Macross Zero, and Macross 7.

So, would everyone agree that the shows in the universe of Macross Frontier are:

Macross - Do You Remember Love? (the movie was based on macross tv but not in that universe)

Macross Flashback 2012  (the Megaroad was launched in 2012 and that date was reflected in Macross Frontier)

Macross II

Macross Plus

well its all set in the same universe, do you remeber love is the movie that is mention brifely in ep 2 or 3 in Macross 7, when the two girls on the brigde of Battle 7 talk about the Minmei movie, which tells the story of the Legendary Idol singer Minmei, so that is why it differs form the orginal story (Super Dimensional Fortress Macross)

It is not set in the same universe.  As you said, Do_You_Remember_Lov e is referenced as an imaginary storyline of a minmei movie.  Thus, the story of the movie is in a parallel universe since it is imaginary.

================

Do you know if Megaroad is fleet designation 001?   The M-Frontier fleet is fleet #025 and the M-Galaxy fleet from where Sheryl came from is fleet #21.

** UPDATE **

I guess I am a fool.  I managed to answer my question when I remembered that I could single-step through the frames.  There were 13 Megaroads.   I think Lyn Minmay left on the first Megaroad.   I am very pleased that Macross Frontier saw fit to put all this detail into their show for people who will single-step through each video frame.   When it comes out on blue-ray, I will buy it.

Either way, this show looks like it's just going to be plain sick. The animation is superb, and really brings back the original Macross feel. I can't wait for it. ::)

Reviving this old thread because Macross Frontier is being aired in Japan and we have 6 episodes so far released on fansubs.

I have been greatly impressed with the quality and audio of the anime and I believe it a fantastic sequel within the Macross greater series. Character development has been good, the songs are very well sung and obviously the mech combat is fantastic. I can't wait for the rest and feel this will quickly become one of the favorite portions of the Macross universe. I would put this series so far on the same par as Macross Plus OAV on quality IMO.

Remember to put Spoilers in the title of your post if you feel you must speak in detail on the series.

I haven't watched much Macross other than the first episode of Macross Zero and the first episode of the original Macross series (I couldn't watch anymore than 1 episode...it just felt too old to me), but I can safely say I am amazed by Macross Frontier. It's my favorite series of Spring 2008 season and IMO, by far, the best. It's one of the few series I have ever seen that I have nothing bad to say about it. It's got great music, it's beautifully animated to the point where it gives KyoAni/KEY a run for their money, the character design is fantastic, the plot is excellent, the character development is magnificent. It is just an all around great show.

Well do yourself a favor and at least watch Macross Plus OAV and Macross Zero. Both are more modern within the last decade. So it shouldn't look too old fashioned. And if you do get a chance everyone needs to watch the original Macross at least once. After all it started it all. :)

I'm loving the new macross. It look amazing and the 3D effect look great and got look cheesy and don't over shadow the 2D animation. the music is great as it always has been in macross and i love that they still keep true to the original.

you need to watch the original

been pretty cool so far, and the little things like Fire Bomber songs being played in cars, etc are good
