Dragonball Movie - uh wtf?
Nikkoru:
Nodame Cantabile could've been made live action to begin with, just using the premise.
With 300 and Sin City, Miller was heavily involved with the whole process - he maintained his vision to the extent that they had to revolutionize visuals in cinema. I don't see the direction giving the same respect and energy to Dragonball
I like Stephen Chow, his works would seem ideal to fit this sort of Martial Arts Fantasy, but James Wong has produced a string of abysmal failures. Anyone who's ever seen anything from Space: Above and Beyond would be pissed off with him.

Yeah, I agree. It's hard to tell sometimes. Like I would have normally said a live action nodame live action show would have sucked, but it was awesome. And when I was like 15 in the mid 90's, I always wanted a live action dragonball. Guess my tastes have changed.

I've been getting a lot of people asking me where it's from. So rather then post a new topic about it to stop people from PM'img me, :P , I'll post a link here. It's from a Japanese Music video. And the song is very catchy after a couple listens. Oh, and the girl is hot.

Wow, that was actually a really good video, favorited. She is super cute, sings great and speaks the english words surprisingly well.

The premise yeah, but I didn't think they could pull off the humor part. Which they did, surprisingly well.
Now Dragonball on the otherhand... Well, I have to admit. If they made dragonball z, instead of dragonball and gave it a Michael Bay like budget, it could be interesting.

I think she sings her english parts somewhat decently because her father is British I believe, so she might have a bit of a background. But I notice her still having trouble with some words so she probably can't speak english fluently. I could be wrong, just going by the song.

That's exactly what I think should have happened here, if not Akira himself then maybe super Fan USA as elected by the people (USA only cuz the movie is made there)
Rodriguez was ready to pull his name off of Sincity when the director's guild was refusing to give Frank co-director credit. Now that's respect for a creators vision.

Now a michael Bay budget would be the kinda respect it deserved.
Song may be too catchy not even listening anymore and I still hear it. It's one of those stuck in your head for a whole day songs.(not really complaining mind you) Better than having britney's womanizer drilled into you by co-workers for a week. Definately not comparing the two either.

i think what we are looking at here
is the difference between the likes of: Sin City, and 300
as compared to: Ultra Violet
