Nodame Cantabile could've been made live action to begin with, just using the premise.

With 300 and Sin City, Miller was heavily involved with the whole process - he maintained his vision to the extent that they had to revolutionize visuals in cinema. I don't see the direction giving the same respect and energy to Dragonball

I like Stephen Chow, his works would seem ideal to fit this sort of Martial Arts Fantasy, but James Wong has produced a string of abysmal failures. Anyone who's ever seen anything from Space: Above and Beyond would be pissed off with him.

Yeah, I agree. It's hard to tell sometimes. Like I would have normally said a live action nodame live action show would have sucked, but it was awesome. And when I was like 15 in the mid 90's, I always wanted a live action dragonball. Guess my tastes have changed.

btw your avatar is awesome. I find myself staring at it till I get dizzy.

I've been getting a lot of people asking me where it's from. So rather then post a new topic about it to stop people from PM'img me, :P , I'll post a link here. It's from a Japanese Music video. And the song is very catchy after a couple listens. Oh, and the girl is hot.

Kimura Kaela - happiness!

(Watch it in HQ)

Wow, that was actually a really good video, favorited. She is super cute, sings great and speaks the english words surprisingly well.

The premise yeah, but I didn't think they could pull off the humor part. Which they did, surprisingly well.

Now Dragonball on the otherhand... Well, I have to admit. If they made dragonball z, instead of dragonball and gave it a Michael Bay like budget, it could be interesting.

I think she sings her english parts somewhat decently because her father is British I believe, so she might have a bit of a background. But I notice her still having trouble with some words so she probably can't speak english fluently. I could be wrong, just going by the song.

That's exactly what I think should have happened here, if not Akira himself then maybe super Fan USA as elected by the people (USA only cuz the movie is made there)
Rodriguez was ready to pull his name off of Sincity when the director's guild was refusing to give Frank co-director credit. Now that's respect for a creators vision.

Now Dragonball on the otherhand... Well, I have to admit. If they made dragonball z, instead of dragonball and gave it a Michael Bay like budget, it could be interesting.
Now a michael Bay budget would be the kinda respect it deserved.

Song may be too catchy not even listening anymore and I still hear it. It's one of those stuck in your head for a whole day songs.(not really complaining mind you) Better than having britney's womanizer drilled into you by co-workers for a week. Definately not comparing the two either.

i think what we are looking at here
is the difference between the likes of: Sin City, and 300

as compared to: Ultra Violet

I think the normal version of Shinji was the basis for the Emo religion. :P

For the record, I hate Kimura Kaela. The gif was cool, but when I saw the MV, it annoyed me.

Merge Eva and DB? Kamehameha the angel?

Hitler Learns of the Dragonball Live Action Movie

EDIT: oh and I liked  Space: Above and Beyond. But the man can't direct. The one was awful.

Hitler Learns of the Dragonball Live Action Movie

That's freakin hilarious. Now that's the kind of fan dedication I would have hoped would go into this film. Damn it all DB fans unite and just make a fan filmed pic. Trust me the pooled talent would be epic. I could here the movie trailer commercial.

Millions of fans.......Unlimite d talent.......The one movie that united them all..... "Ka..meh....a...me.. ..HAAAAAAAAA" DragonBall the Movie
Opens Christmas 2012.

Side Note: MGZ - that's true. But the Gunkata scene in ultra violent partially redeemed it for me. Just a fan of Gunkatas I track down it's use in all anime. It was a innovative creation of the films director

I've seen them use that same hitler video for other things and it was equally hilarious.

But he said Goku turns SS when he sees Yamcha(or Yamucha, argue at your hearts conent) die. I don't know if they were trying to be funny but that was a mistake that kind of annoyed me. Hitler being portrayed as a typical fanboy should know that.

Regardless, I still found it funny.

HOW DO THEY PLAN ON HAVING GOKU GO SUPER SAIYAJIN?
BY FRIEZA KILLING FUCKING YAMCHA?
HE'S A MAJOR CHARACTER! YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE OUT A MAJOR CHARACTER!

:P He was referencing to how Goku turned SS after Frieza killed Krillin. He's saying if there's no Krillin then who is gonna replace him in all the key story points?

It's quite said that Krillin is non-existent and Roshi isn't a perve :( Maybe this will act the way the first Hulk movie did. Fans will be so disappointed by it that they'll remake a new Dragon Ball movie :O

"There is no krillen in the movie and goku is in highschool."

"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOKU DOING IN FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL!"

God, that was funny =P If anything that vid has made this whole live action into a giant joke for me :D

I don't understand why Goku is played by a non-asian. The anime makes it quite clear that he's asian, or at least has black hair (before SSJ levels).

Some are asian, some are caucasian... but there's no clear conformity within it. It seems purely random.

Hmmm...at what point do they make it clear that Goku is an Asian? Goku's a Saiyan (or Saiyajin).

Well actually before DBZ when it was just Dragonball, Goku was just a spin off of an ancient Chinese tale about San-Goku so he's supposed to be Asian for sure >.<

Yeh I know that, 'Monkey' or 'Journey to the west', but still at no point do they make it clear where he is from, or how he is born, that is all explained in DBZ. And even though we assume he is asian during DB, he still is the same Goku who has been a saiyan all along.
