Dragonball Movie - uh wtf?

While we are on the topic of Chi Chi, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO HER!? isnt she supposed to be really good at martial arts and have that crazy fucking armor with the blade on the helmet that she tends to chuck at people? this is SUPPOSED to be the original Dragonball, right?

Head blades aren't allowed in American high schools of course. But they shouldn't be in high school to begin with.

Really though the most disappointing part of the whole thing is that Roshi isn't a crazy old pervert in this "Evolution".

This makes me so sad.  I used to love Dragonball so much.  ChiChi and Master Roshi were my favorite characters.  My first screen name ever was ChiChi.  I can't believe what they have reduced her to.  And then we have poor Master Roshi who was the very definition of token pervy old man.  I can't believe they took as much "creative license" as they did and still choose to call it Dragonball.  Damn near the only thing that is the same is their names.

"In the cartoon she's always chasing after Goku. the leading man. She flirts with him, but he's always running away. It's similar in the movie."

I am about halfway through it right now.  It is worse than I had anticipated.  It's pretty much garbage.

Holy crap.  I think the worst part of the movie (except for all the cliche and predictable crap) is the whole Lion King "remember who you are" scene.  I think I just thew up in my mouth a little...

He was 12 if I remember correctly, and i thought ChiChi was around the same age. She definitely had an early pubescent shape when she is first introduced.

Often times the way they are drawn you can start to assume a character is an elementary age kid but in anime/manga (as well as in real life) Japanese people usually stay looking rather childish until their late teens. I remember last time I saw some High School Japanese exchange students, they were SOOO tiny in comparison to Japanese college students.

Never watched the American Version of dragonball, but in the Japanese version, ChiChi asks his age and he says 14, which is what he thinks he is because it's clarified in the tournament saga that he had trouble counting. Turns out he is 11. Chichi is supposed to be 16 when she first shows up.

But still... Chichi never, ever flirted with Goku that I can recall. The only time I can remember that might be considered 'her taking interest' is when he shows up all grown up at the final tournament in dragonball and she blushes when she realizes Goku has turned into a man.

Also Goku met Chi-Chi early then that, but then they met again that age 16. There last meting was around the end of dragonball when Goku was 20.

Umm that not really true, Chi-Chi flirts with goku lot in the old Dragonball. It happens really fasted, but the only reason why she doesnt keep on bothering him. Is because he promsed to marry her.

Maybe that explains why the upperclassmen in high school look 10 years older than the freshmen when depicted in anime.
