HDTV versions i think my current system just struggles with. But i also seem to get audio going out of synch with mkv's these days too i think... So i settled for ayako instead which works fine.

At least i can't watch g.g's releases (mkv's ain't they?) of code geass, they always go out of synch :-\

Go to the playback forum and learn something.

Could have told me that in the frist place instead of pointing out my obvious lack of understanding.

I've watched through episode 6 and I'm impressed. I was concerned it would be more of a witch hunt, but its not. I'm not looking forward to the end however. Its pretty obvious how this story will end, and I don't like those kinds of endings (the "I love you, but I'm going to disappear now" kind).

Don't worry. I think you'll find the ending will leave u feeling satisfied.

I don't know much about Codecs too, I just download the latest release, save it, install it and don't mess with it really.

But now I need to get my PS3 screen on my computer so I can start recording some of the stuff I do. =) Need to show !

Well after doing my reading on that faq in the playback forum and following psyren's h264 guide i still keep getting synch problems. They play fine for a while, but if i go back or forward to another part in the ep then i start seeing subs and audio going outta synch.

Another annoying thing is as far as i know bss are only ones with spice and wolf speacil ep and their tracker has been down all day or something =/

So I just finished this series. It was pretty good except something strange happened mere seconds after the credits started rolling. I thought I heard something strange on the side of my house, so I glanced out my window. I saw 3 strange guys on the side of my house carrying what looked like a paper bag but handling it very gingerly. So after they passed out of view, I went towards the back of my house, to continue watching.

They were heading toward the propane tanks near a business behind my hous. As they came closer, one set the bag down, fiddled inside of it, and closed it up again. I was very curious at this point. They started walking back the way they came and I decided to go see what was inside the bag they had placed next to these propane tanks. As soon as they were out of view I ran and glanced inside. I saw a fucking timer counting down. I turned my head to see if those 3 guys had glanced back to watch, and as I did I knocked the bag over. I ever so softly peaked in. It had stopped.

So I ran towards the sidewalk where they had continuted to walk. I yelled and screamed and as they noticed me, they had just reached their car. They got inside and sped off. I didn't know what to do so I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I can say this cab is rare, but I thought nah forget it, yo homes to Bel Air. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabbie 'yo homes smell ya later'. I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there; to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

I'm using K-Lite codec pack and with 3.9.5 I've recently got some problems with subtitles and sync. Upgrading to 4.1.0 solved all of those, so...

@ Dakkar
Maybe i need to free up ram, i should kinda have enough and i wasn't running alot of stuff at the time. It don't matter too much since my new pc will be built soon and if that monster can't play this stuff without problems then nothing will :)

Well, my E6850 with 2 GB of RAM and WinXP handles even Thora's release of 5 cm without any problems, so new mainstream level desktops should be able to do the same trick... And you can always check how much memory is occupied to make sure, although HDD's linear read speed is still more than sufficient even if video is swapped :)

I didn't know that the E6850 was mainstream...

Anyways, my E2180 at stock speed runs THORA's Sword of the Stranger 720p with only 30% CPU use.

Hell, my Athlon 64 3200 could handle it @ 90%.

Nvidia Purevideo decoder is supposed to allocate some of the burden to your video processor if you have a 6xxx series or higher. I highly recommend it because I'm running a E6400 2.13 overclocked to 2.68 (I can overclock my CPU to 3.10, but I don't like the temp under load.) and I can play every HD movie (720, 1080) without any noticeable effects. I play all my HD stuff on my HD bigscreen. I'm running a 6600GT. (Actually going to be upgrading here in the next couple days however)

Back when it was released, no. But with Penryns replacing Conroes, this level of performance is already mainstream, isn't it?

Both nVidia & ATi have hardware support for h264, but not in all of their cards, and the ones which are often victimized in this department are performance cards, such as G80-based ones...

Not really, the E8200/E8400 are still more expensive than the usual "mainstream" chips nowadays... The E7200 ($120) is the mainstream part now.

But yeah, hardware support for h264 is common on new GPUs, but apparently it's not as useful as it should (I think this has a thread on Playback).

Anyways, it seems there won't be a new season of Spice and Wolf coming soon... While that happens, Naruto is on episode number ~400 and Pokemon has achieved God-like status as the money cow.

my mate tried making me watch Naruto. He thinks it's amazing, i just can't see whats suppoed to be good about it though :-\ at 400 eps your looking at 50-75% filler eps alone, hoho =P

Least i have plenty to get on with while waiting for a new season of spice and wolf, if there is gonna be one =P

Hm... Well, Phenoms can't really put up a fight, so it looks like Intel was able to keep prices high for a longer time. A pity...

Naruto, Pokemon & others are rather cheap shows which, despite that, are extremely popular and bring you lots of money because of that. Spice and Wolf not only based on novels, which naturally limits how far you can extend the series, but also has quite a high level of detalization and requires careful directing and script writing. Together with good graphics, sound and seiyu cast, it makes show expensive, but is it all that popular? I guess it's unlikely that crowds of 12-years old kids are going to watch it :)
I still hope to see a sequel, but I don't think the show is going to go past 26 episodes...
