^ what should we rate?

I know, but they don't actively use those sigs, I'm working on lowering the size of my sig that I made, gotta work around only 30kb but it's freaken hard.
good point, however, there's this sig tatsu gave me before:

I used it for quite a while, but i never had any complaints from the staff. it's 109 kb.
he also made a second version

with a whopping 122 kb.

so methinks that there's an unwritten rule of below 110 kb filesize.

I also been thinking about it but since seeing how things are progressing, the staff board may need to eventually increase the files size limit, with people using more complex png's and other things, not now, but sometime in the future, it could be necessary, I'm sure it won't come easy, maybe in a year or two, maybe even more, or not at all.

It's nearly 2011 and there is still a rule about image file sizes, I mean it's kind of funny to think that anyone would actually be bothered by the file sizes nowadays.

Yup, it needs a revision just like how my guild revises the website every year depending on the patch we're getting. I've taken part of that website and I'm one of the admins on it.

So Sebs, MSN :P

I think the reason for the limit on files size is justified through data load upon opening a page with sings and avatars, some people don't have a fast internet so it's a big load on them, I do think the rules need to be revised a little, but I won't complain, the jpeg version of my signature is 66kb while png, while much better looking is over 150kb, also the Ika Invader signature I made is ~400kb (gif) it would be a big load for some people, especially if they use IE, I find IE good only for downloading google chrome :)

Indeed.  but come to think of it, people here have been using sigs over 100 kb(but not over 110), and none of them have been removed(but sigs with violating dimensions are). maybe they actually allow less than 110 kb but they just aren't updating the rules?

BTW
<start rant>
that reminds of that one time in the desktop/wallpaper thread where a guy posted a ten megabyte image(not a link), and when i said that posting an image that big isn't nice(especially in an ALL IMAGES thread) he simply responded "I don't care if it's slow for you". talk about forum ethics.
<end rant>
on ie... seriously, why the hell does microsoft even bother with that piece of crap? IE lags behind every major browser(heck even trident based ones).

Huge files should either be posted as a link or something, that guys showed no manners at all I guess.

signatures over 100kb but less than 110kb I guess are not harming badly, it's like with speed limit, if you only pass by 3-4 km/h you can get by, but not when it's over with 10, ex: 60km/h, you should get a ticket for speeding, if the limit is 50, but if you go only 53/54, the cops will likely forgive you

that doesn't change the subject that my ika invader can't be used on the forum as signature, with over 400kb :)

^ exactly, also, mind posting this ika invader thingy? the way you talk about it makes it sound like the best thing since the sliced bread sig.

I just looked at it closely, it's actually over 800 kb :(, it's not great, there is a little grain on it, here it is in the spoiler.
it's really nothing much, just heavy as shit man :D
(click to show/hide)
and a little funny :)
there is a lot of trash pixels and such, but if I can't find a way around the file size I stopped working on this one, doing something else now :)

^ looks good but it has way too many frames. 10 frames should do(ika flying around the sig) but i won't guarantee it will be within 110 kb.
I suggest you make a pixelated 8-bit ika. and have something shoot white stuff at her that makes her explode. you know, like space invaders?

@Sigs ~ We don't check EVERY single signature. If a signature is over the dimension size we can see it easily. Otherwise we only check sigs every now and then. If you see a sig over the limit report a post of that person telling us its oversize and we will deal with it. I notice one of your rotating ones is 109kb. :3

@Wallpaper thread ~ I haven't kept up with that lately however ask them to spoiler the image. If not then report it and we will deal with it.

We have lives. We can't moniter everything by ourselves. We rely on people reporting things to us to direct us to problem areas.

@ sigs ~ What the hell, are you singling me out? Sebur's is 106 kb!

@ forum abuse ~ I always forget that BBT has a "report to moderator" button. besides, most cases are just minor and they apologize and correct their offending actions.

I singled you out because you brought up the point. Usually if you bring up a point you make sure you are within the rules already because you will be the first checked. >_>

Ho ho. I always expected Sebs to play by the rules considering his recurring signature designing to our standards and his experience already with the site. Sebsy may want to fix that too. :3

As for the forums usually people will correct it but it is there if you need it.

ANYWAY...
I see lots of text and not many avatar/sigs.  ._.
I want to oogle pretty pictures not redundant text.

so I made this one, for the upcoming December, I will change it slightly for X-mass, and then for new years, and I will get a new one for January 2011, it will be special :)

this is a v1.1
what was fixed, the v1.0 didn't have "?" after "shrimps", it's the only change.

I actually think your new ava is really neat, there is a pretty lot of detail on the clothing from the pic you used, could you post the source pic ? I like the girl, her outfit is what I noticed first, really well done.
