I'd remove the sign, make the sun more particle like, you know to make it the optical point more, something that would make the picture girl look like saying by just being there "I'm your opponent now, you know you are fucked!"

it doesn't look very interesting with that text there.

Cut the height by 50 pixels, work on the text (use blend mode and blending options). That's what I would do.

also, there isn't any big difference between cs3, cs4 and cs5, i can work properly in all of them without problems, so even if he\she changed the photoshop version i doubt that it will bring him\her more "performance"

I like the brighter color scheme of the original better, but I like the way the text is less obtrusive in the v2. Also, the flames seem to sort of encase the character in the first one, whereas to me it feels like she's just "there" in the v2. But I might just feel that way because I'm comparing it to the v1. I can't speak to the technical aspects or composition, either.

What's the random-ish splotch near her elbow in the v2? I can't really tell if it's in the v1 due to the crystal overlapping the area.

Also, tvTropes is the devil. I wasted ~~three years~~ many ~~hours~~ days* of my life browsing that site.
*It honestly wouldn't surprise me, exaggeration or not.

FINALLY learned a bit more on rendering pics (about ~7-10 pages back were an awesome tutorial for that pen tool!) and how to do it in PS. AWESOME!

Also this is completely better than my previous CS2. This loads hella faster than CS2 and I can only say that its kinda "easier to use".. hard to explain)

though I COULD make it even MOAR awesome if I just could understand the use of those layer masks or other..

just "there" eh, taking note of that, it's not actually final. but personally, i like V2 better for having a better background.

the colors seem more "lively" also the "fire yellow" color works good with that render, same goes with the bg

And if you mean my "layer mask" sentence, what i mean is that I liiterally dont know how or when or for what to use them, I have no clue. And I guess that the secret behind those ultra sigs and avas is the combination of layers and layermasks.
