My layperson's opinion is that I don't really like the ava. Can't say why, really, but the shadowy figure in the BG makes me feel funny. It doesn't strike me as referencing any character in FSN, so it feels even further out of place. ... But, I'm not overly familiar with all of the canon of FSN, either, so maybe it is incredibly relevant and should stay.
Admittedly, Archer is my preferred male char from FSN, so I'm probably biased to begin with.
Yes, I know Archer is Shirou. Archer is still more BA IMO, although there's nothing particularly wrong with Shirou.
That aside, the blue in the sig feels out of place. FSN strikes me as darker, and seeing a bright blue sky just feels... odd to me. If you -want- the cheery look, then I don't really see anything wrong with the BG. Other than that, Saber doesn't feel very Saber-y to me, but I can't really pin down why, and it's really just the art style anyway. Her face feels somewhat loli-fied, but I could just be looking at it wrong.
The BG color in the ava also seems a bit too close to Shirou's hair color, IMO. I'd prefer something with a bit more contrast. Ignoring my preference for Archer, I feel as if Shirou's face is too far off-center to really be in-focus. That's just a feeling, though, and I can't really explain what I mean better than that. If I had to try, I'd probably say it feels like I see the rest of him before I see his face*, and the face just doesn't stand out much. It might be because his clothing makes it look like there's a giant arrow in the middle of his chest, though.
