back on track.

I just finished the series aswell. So I fogure a goodwill bump is warented.

This is really not one of my favorite genres, infact its close to my least favorite. This show still managed to impress me. I really enjoyed it :)

As a sidenote, I thought the English dub did a good job at portraying the multinational cast of characters, and I daresay it "fit" the series better than the Japanese track. Overall, Planetes was one of the best $27 I ever spent.

Where did you buy it? My mom asked me not to long ago what it is i like about anime so much. Maybe ill give it to her as a gift :)
I think it would be the perfect anime for that.

Rightstuf.com was having a sale last week, Planetes was costing $30, now it's back to $45...

They have a lot of sales and the likes, so if you wait a bit, you can get almost any anime for much less than the usual street price.

I also got it at rightstuf.com -- they have rotating studio sales of all the major anime and manga distributors. I got it during a 40% off Bandai products sale. MSRP = $49.98 * .60 = $29.99, then with their Got Anime discount membership ($12 per year, pays for itself very quickly) taking another 10% off, it was $26.99. Got s-CRY-ed for the same price at the same sale. That's why I always disagree with the "anime is too expensive" argument -- if you play your cards right, it can be quite cheap.

I think when they release anime in 2-4 episode dvd's for 20+ dollars, is when it gets too expensive to bother with. Box sets aren't usually as bad.

I enjoyed planetes well enough. It had moments when my suspension of belief crashed and I wanted to slap some characters about, but what anime doesn't have that?
If anyone is wanting to download it, now is probably the best time! Lots of seeders, all wanting to get their ratio up. No small task, mind you! So few leachers when I finished, (about 10) It took me over 3 days to get my ratio just to 1.00. Help these poor souls make up that debt of 8 gigs, and help yourself to a good series, :D.

From memory, Monster didn't let me down at all. If it did, it did it so subtly I didn't notice.

And wouldn't you know it, rightstuf's having a Bandai sale right now, just like the one I mentioned in previous posts.

I finished this series earlier this week. It was outstanding. The best space drama I've seen since Bebop. *two thumbs up*

When I saw Ai on wheelchair I almost cried.I really liked that in the end she remained true to her qualities and didn't use Claire's oxygen tank.
Claire's development over the course of the series was excellent.

dude u need to put spoiler on stuff like that come on now some ppl havent seen it yet....
The thing i liked about it was it was almost exactly like the manga and i read that every time i could get a new chapter.. Who didnt love the temp? lol As for it being slow.. i dono i had read the manga ahead of time so i kinda knew what to expect.. The first two episodes tell it all show the realsim of space...
Anyone think about what china did and remember this anime? Them shooting down satalites as a test to wipe out other sats in orbit?

Check your own post please.

dbml - Crest/Banner of the Stars - now, not later.  Awesome show, better overall story than Planetes with a somewhat weaker cast.

Oh, and Ace - Firefly had no sound in space, but it's big screen sequel unfortunately did, while the Planetes series didn't, but its manga version was far less concerned with adhering to reality.  So nobody's perfect.  And yes, both shows fucking rock.

I looked them up and they sound pretty good. Added to my list of stuff to watch. Thanks :)

I Love Planetes so much. It's not like it's amazingly deep or something, maybe it's the music, but every time Tanabe Ai speaks I get a little choked up with happiness :D So every 5 minutes I'm on the verge of tears with Planetes :D

Just avoid watching it in English....

I dropped Karin after the first half of the first episode, I'll pick it up within the upcoming two weeks. Right now, I'm watching this 2004 anime series. I'm shocked I missed something as good as this one. I like the animation, and foremost the realism behind each character and management which IRL it does exist; from audits to security check ups, etc etc. This is something refreshing and new in a series, well to me.

Great series, my favorite episode has to be Fee's.  She just wants a smoke so bad.

Yeah, give us more Fee!  What a great character.  I don't smoke, but I was right there with her.  Go Fee!
