Shakugan no shana 2. ending... spoilers obviously.
« on: June 05, 2008, 07:49:54 PM »
I cant believe how it ended.

Where is the closure? So many things were left in the open. I have to say i haven't felt this ripped off after any anime ended.

Im so disappointed :(

Bah. The level of story depth and complication died around episode 4 or somethin (1st series). Seriously I liked all the concepts they were throwing at us along with explaintions for how everything worked. Then that all died away and the series became another 1 part school life + 1 part fantasy adventure. Throughout the second series i never was impressed with any plot twists cuz none of it made any logical sense. They could say anything they wanted to and i wouldn't care since i couldn't make any intiutive leaps anyway. Just how their story works really, it's not the sort that u can pre guess things at.

Shakugan no Shana is based off a book. Now being a book person myself im pretty sure there was a hell of alot of content left in terms of ideas and concepts. But they choose to dumb it down instead and give us what they thought we could handle. I don't know this for certain, just my opinon at the end of the day.

I still enjoyed the second series for entertainment value. Its good but not great. Was pleased that that stupid Saki choose Shana in the end. tbh i don't feel like there was any great mystery left to be explained, so i can tolarate a few minor loose ends.

yeah, they showed shana getting happy at then end which made you presume he picked her.

I still would have liked to see it done right. instead of some shabby 2 second thing at the end.

It felt like they got to epi 19 or 20, then realized they had only 4 episodes left to fit in the last 8. Everything was rushed at the end imo.

but yeah, it was ok for entertainment, i really liked the first though.

I seriously doubt you'll have to do much petitioning in order to get a 3rd season of Shakugan no Shana. It's still super popular and a big money maker, and considering there are still novels that can be animated and considering how open the story was left open at the end of the 2nd season, a 3rd season is almost definite. It's just a matter of when it will come out rather than a matter of if. If Zero no Tsukaima can get a 3rd season (created by same people, animated by same people); I have no doubts Shakugan no Shana will.

And I really can't wait either ;/ I'm a whore for Shakugan no Shana.

Based on what I've heard, in the novels the story went awesome after the Sabrac fight. Google for it or visit this thread to check it (spoilers ofcourse).

And as far as I know, the second season pretty much reached where novels are now, so if there's a 3rd season we're probably going to have to wait a while.

Season 3? Sure... as long as it doesn't turn into a Bleach/Naruto-esque long-term epic. I'll drop it once there's any sign of that happening.

mmm, I'd be willing to watch a 3rd season, sure. But it would in no way be a major priority to watch, it's ended up being a series thats worth a 1 time watch and thats about it. For me at least.

Dude, Season three is in production and you won't be disappointed. I was scared to see an episode or two of wrapping everything up .... then I would be very disappointed. Storyline is a critical part in every anime series, book, novels, movies, etc. If the storyline sucks, the whole thing is a waste. Everything that was left, unanswered, will be shown in Season 3. Have you seen the Movie yet? You should watch it if you haven't.

I love Shakugan no Shana. Season 1 was awesome, Season 2 was a freaking blast ~ I so didn't want it to end and Season 3's going to be bigger. They're building your questions, your tensions and pushing you further to the edge to wanting to see the anime. Like Code Geass, I can't compare the both .. but it leaves you hanging, doesn't it? =) ...

where have you heard of a season 3 being already in the works?

I would be fine with it, if there is another 12 or 24 episodes coming to clean up most of the lose ends.

Back when I finished watching the second season I tried to speculate when the third one will be by checking airing dates of first and second, when the date I predicted came what I saw released was an OVA series instead of a third season, so I go back to speculating when third will be and say it's either right after the OVA series ends or sometime during 2011.

Maybe I wouldn't have to do this much guesswork if I followed anime news more closely. :-\

1- yup
2- 2011 is a bit off, but considering that the ova series could have 2-3 more eps it could be the point.

still, it's a good series of Ova's, Shana does grow a bit, so does her "boyfriend"

My thoughts exactly. It ended more or less the same way as the first one. Hopefully the 3rd and (supposedly) final season won't be the same soap opera that this one was, as far as personal relationships are concerned.

well it is about relationships of Shana, and her emotional growth, you can expect a bit more centered action on the enemies, but in all it still will be about her feelings.

It's the way the series combined action and emotions that made me like it. I was disappointed, because after Shana professed her feelings at the end of season one, I was expecting that there would be significant development of her relationship with Yuji. But there wasn't. Instead the entire second season dealt mostly with the theme of love from afar that was already present in the first one and even the end didn't lead to a complete resolution or something new.

It's the kind of series that will get a third season being the cash cow it is.

The second season started to fail at around ep 10. A love interest DOOMED TO FAIL SO BADLY i thought her survivability rate was a minus 196%

The main character, weak as toilet paper. The quad personalty arc came too little too late to be of any interest, obviously the moment John loses his main character shield he's as good as dead.

Series spent too long at school to the point of forcefulness.. this is clearly an adventure anime forced into a stagnant setting.

Shana's short sightedness gets on my nerves, she has the kind of personality that would easily get your ass handed to you in battle.

The author clearly not making any major sacrifices, it was a plot that any slight screw up would show up in the news or at least raise the suspicions of near bystanders. Sure there is the Kekkai but there where numerous times they were caught off guard with miraculous misses.

Thats my 2 cents.

When the love arc was an exact carbon copy of zero no tsukaima lol that was terrible. I cant help but be immensely unimpressed with it.

There was one part when the blonde chick went apeshit and transform into the purple bear and started rampaging around the school festival in the special zone, she killed a bunch of students and the short haired girl ( a.k.a the love interest of one of the side char dudes ). Since she is a human and not a torch she should be dead already and even if she was a torch, her energy would be low to the point she fades off like the original hirai-san.

the way they dismiss that lore is kinda like how bleach is all about arrancars and super bankais now and shit instead of purifying hollows into soulsociety which is the original storyline.

SNS was super predictable to the point where you'd just /facepalm
