If you don't like, then you don't like. Why would you want to be convinced?

Help you understand Haruhism?(Not sure if that's what you meant.)  If you don't like it you just don't like it.  Im obviously infected with Haruhism (ava/sig) but I can understand that it just doesn't do it for some people.

It's a very character heavy show. If you're not one that connects with characters on a personal level, you probably won't really enjoy it.

As they said, it's hard to explain to people who don't like it.

I really liked the series, but I can't say I'm "infected" by Haruhism either. Different people, different tastes.

I don't get it, either.  I ended the series thinking... "well that went nowhere."  I think the problem was that I entered the series without expecting it to be what it was: a slapstick-heavy, self-referential, character-driven anime, with little actual character development but lots of interaction and "zany" situations.  And panty shots   :-\

On the other hand, it did make me more receptive to character-oriented anime and I ended up watching Honey & Clover a bit afterwards, something I never would have given a second glance at before.  And I'm glad I did... I'm a fan of that series now.

I may actually come back to this one, once I acclimate a bit more to Japanese humor.

Episode VI sealed it for me.  What an awesome ending.  It's just refreshing to see a masculine, socially competent, intelligent male lead.  The VAs for Haruhi and Kyon are also freaking awesome.

yea i think im for the most part in a similar situation but i did expect it to be filled with fanservice i was just hoping for a little more substance which i felt it was lacking quite a bit of. I still am not a huge fan of the genre in general but i did get a small laugh a couple times during the show

Read this post.

ok, as a haruhiist who watched the entire show for the 7th or 8th time already, i can somehow relate to that feeling when i first watched the show.

i was like, "did i just download the right file" if you're talking about that movie they made. episode 2 was great but it didn't affect me YET. up to episode 10 i was like "What the hell? everyone's addicted to this crappy show?!?!? You got to be kidding me!" so here comes the infect-you-with-haruhiism part.

i really liked the LAST TWO EPISODES. i remember watching it on midnight (1am or something) and there was this somehow GREAT feeling that overflows your spirit. (i don't know if it'll affect you but yeah, it's a really great feeling) and after that i feel like every anime i watch looks crappy.

YES!

<3 Mahler's 8th Symphony to seal the climax of ep VI.

I had the opposite reaction.  I sat through them thinking, "wow, I wonder how they're going to wrap up some of the plot threads before the show's over."

Turns out, they didn't.  They just sort of... dropped most of the plot ideas they had in the first few episodes concerning Haruhi's "powers."  Dropped them much like Haruhi would I guess  ;D  It actually feels like much of the show was written by a similar personality to hers, lol.

But I'll definitely give this series another shot later.

she's evily pretty, she's weird so it makes the anime pretty damn interesting, she likes to get attention just doesn't wanna admit it, and who wouldn't wanna huge such a cute girl? unfortunality, that'll never happen IRL since she is an anime character! ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. but that's the beauty of it ~

The show is all about jacking off at the characters. That's it.

i think we can kinda compare us to narutards...

since i didnt have the possibility to DL when i first heard about this show i read the novels first so i kinda got hooked there. when i saw the series i feelt they emphasised too much on mikuru fanservice. (im a tsuruya-chan fan my self... i feel left out) what i liked about the series was the charachters and how kyon sees on the story, and haruhi her self.

i think haruhiism is something you either got and either dosent. so dont try to force it on you.

The main part I liked about the series was Kyon's narrating, I'm not obsessed with the series, although I really enjoyed it.

What's wrong with lolis? Don't people watch anime only for... they don't? Really? O_O

Malus, every time I see your name i can't help but pronounce it "mah-loos". In the local dialect it means something along the lines of "embarassed (in a public situation)", but is usually said without the "s" sound, i.e. "mah-loo". Not that it says anything about you, but sorry anyway =P

For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?
